Story

The award winning “Apple Pie Eating House” of Ambleside is a family run business which has had a great reputation for its quality of food and service since 1974. We now have a seating capacity of 115 over two floors, comprising a total of four rooms, each with their own individual ambiance, plus our courtyard for “al fresco” eating.

Last year we launched Rooms at the Apple Pie, which comprises of eight beautifully converted, contemporary bedrooms which are sold on a room only basis but with the added bonus of a 10% discount on all purchases at The Apple Pie for the duration of your stay!!

We also now have two holiday cottages in the nearby village of Grasmere, perfect for those longer breaks!

The welcome at Rooms at the Apple Pie was warm and friendly. Staff are very informative and let us know everything on arrival. The location is perfect, you are in the heart of Ambleside. Parking I feel is an issue, get there as early as possible to get in front of the digs otherwise you have to park about 5 min walk away. Our room was the attic No7, not good for tall people. Low beams . The automatic velux window is pretty cool though, closes when it rains. Good facilities in the room. Perfect for a small getaway.  Walkability: Perfect for a walk around town and up the hills. Fabulous waterfalls nearby.

The room was incredible, had views of the mountains and the bridge house. The staff were also very helpful and approachable.  The discount at the bakery below was also a great touch as we got a lot of quick hiking snacks from there and enjoyed a nice lunch.

Great place to stay. I couldn't say that it's modern and that is its charm.  It was clean and quiet and even has EV charging.  Be aware, the charger supplier requires a minimum credit of £20 to charge but will only accept a minimum of £30 payment in the app. The charger supplier could not confirm whether any balance would be refunded because the people that could answer had "gone home" and I only wanted a top up. You can't blame the Apple Pie for that hence the high rating.

The room was lovely and clean, but due to it being in the top of the property head height was limited and we hit our head on several occasions. Only had 1 opening window which made the room very warm. Breakfast at the apple pie shop next was excellent.  Nearby activities: Good cental location, park was limited and first come first serve basis however other private parking is available a short walk away.  Food & drinks: Next door bar served great food and drink.

Booked a night here on a whim after seeing a flier for them. Lovely rooms and super comfy king size bed. The gingerbread in the room was a lovely touch and tasted incredible. My partner and I are thrilled to have another place to stay especially in such a convenient locationRooms: 5/5

Really fantastic place to stay: central but quiet, beautifully clean, well maintained and freshly decorated, well appointed and comfortable rooms, the best shower I have ever had in a b and b no mere trickle of water, but a really good jet! and great amenities such as on site parking and a place for drying clothes. The host was very welcoming, and was also very generous with the little touches, always a really good sign: there was access to fresh milk, and fresh coffee and gingerbread in the room. A really lovely place to stay, highly recommended.

Very well appointed, reasonable room rates. Modern clean room and shower room. Staying in winter and room really warm and cosy. Lovely helpful staff. Tea Coffee making facilities in room. Complimentary  fresh milk in fridge in reception. Honesty box for snacks.  Car parking on site but not enough spaces if all rooms occupied, although we were lucky and bagged a space. In centre of town so handy for shops, pubs, restaurants etc. About a mile walk to the lake. Numerous fell walks from the door. 10% discount at the apple pie cafe just next door. An excellent place to stay, cannot recommend highly enough.

We stayed here in February half term as a last minute booking as the accommodation we'd originally booked wasn't up to scratch.  The rooms at The Apple Pie were absolutely perfect - we booked a ground floor room for my elderly mother and aunt and we had the room in the roof.  The  staff couldn't have been more helpful.  They carried the extra zed bed up to the room at the top for our daughter.  We would have loved to stay for a further night but they were fully booked.  Such a lovely location near the river too.  Will definitely go back there.

Lovely room in the heart of Ambleside. En-suite, free WiFi and a very comfortable bed. Limited on site parking but a larger pay and display nearby. 10% discount at the bakery next door, which do an awesome breakfast. Great place to stay, refuel and explore from.
