I recently stayed at this hostel and I had an amazing experience! The hostel's location in London is fantastic, making it super convenient to explore the city. The staff, especially Danny, were incredibly friendly and helpful throughout my stay. The rooms were clean, providing a comfortable place to rest after a day of sightseeing. The common areas were nice and welcoming, perfect for meeting other travelers. I highly recommend this hostel to anyone looking for a great place to stay in London! Walkability: Good location close to bus stops and Victoria station making it easy to navigate through London.
lots to say .. Pros : price and location A+, neighborhood is cute ! Cons : -facilities are okay… everything feels crummy/ unclean. Biggest problem: feeling of security as a girl!!! They don’t pay attention to who they put in mixed dorms.. they don’t care if your are only going to be one girl and 5 other men .. made me really uncomfortable!!! Also don’t know what was going on in that hostel but most of the people staying there were men in their 40++ so as a solo traveller girl, being in a room filled with “old” men made me feel super uncomfortable. Went down to ask the receptionist what I could do to feel more safe/ comfortable.. he tried his best.. but failed at helping out. Literally said that nothing could happen… I mean read the news.. it’s everywhere … Met this other girl my age waiting to speak to the receptionist for the same problem. Feeling of being unsafe and sleeping in a room filled with old men. So, knowing that your regular clients are that kinda of clientele, just please make sure that your dorms are actually MIX DORMITARY, would make us more comfortable!! Or stop charging more for all girls rooms !! So youth hostel not so sure about that !
Absolutely fantastic experience with this hostel! I stayed there for only few hours - I arrived to London at night, and chose this hostel because of its location. The staff was amazing from the beginning - during our communication related to booking, then on the check in even though I arrived around 2am, they were both so friendly and chatty and then again on the checkout. They absolutely deserve 10 stars! The toilet and the shower were perfectly clean, especially having in mind it's a hostel. The neighbourhood is nice and quiet. I will definitely stay here again!
Best experience ever in a hostel! I stayed in a twin room with my younger brother and we had a lovely time. Kitchen and common areas are well equipped, the rooms are clean and comfortable and the staff is incredible! Everyone was so so kind and helpful. The immaculate vibes of the staff make this hostel top-notch. Would definitely recommend x
Absolute disgrace of an hostel Staff is a group of kids and they are fake and will only conspire on your back. They just want your money! They even stole my food and negated me the access to basic needs like storage facilities and to enter the premises after my checkout. They surely ruined my day but I’m happy to ruin your reputation.
My whole bag of food costing £25 in the kitchen was missing after fridge cleaning. Talked to the 3rd staff 24hr after the incident, the black female staff kept me repeating the whole thing the 3rd time. I just asked for the checking of CCTV and she said the notice on the fridge reminds me to bear my own risk. Is it a proper reply? So Astor Hostel approves stealing?? She said everyone tried their best to solve “my” problem… If they never went through the CCTV and they didn’t mark down the colour of the shopping bag/ the food items missing and even the time, other than verbal communication or message between them and the in-house cleaning staffs. What exactly they have did? About a week later, the manager said the camera didn’t capture the scene at all. I left the kitchen around 1pm and found the bag missing at 5:30pm. There are 9-10 fridges in the kitchen and there are not many guests using the fridge in the afternoon. The most interesting ting is those food can barely fit in my large backpack, so the camera can’t capture who opened that exact fridge in between that 4.5hr and brought out such a large orange Sainsbury’s shopping bag and a whole melon. The monitor next to the reception showed the cameras were working. Who the manager and other staffs tried so hard to protect? Definitely not the guest. During my 3-month stay in UK, the black lady has the worst attitude and response ever. There’s a cockroach in my room, so I told the black lady and she didn’t seem very happy when nobody else there. Maybe it’s my own problem again. I brought it in? Other guests helped me to kill it long before other staffs came in. The next morning, she greeted me loudly with a big smile in front of the manager. I didn’t asked for any money or accept their free breakfast toast. Never come back
Rooms and toilets are dirty. No proper toilet paper. Showers are mouldy and sinks need descaling. The whole place needs refurbishing stairs, doors, windows and a sufficient maintenance as well as regular cleaning. The breakfast is cheap but not to recommend. For a bigger group of guests there is not enough dishes and no tea towels to dry the dishes. The beds are comfortable but only if you are smaller than 1,80m. WiFi is ok.
Good place to stay in London for travellers and who looks for place to stay short term . 10 minutes walking away from victoria station. staff was helpful and friendly , room was clean and tidy when I checked in. Toilets and bathrooms were acceptable hygiene and clean as well. Kitchen is unique and lunch area is fantastic for watching movie.
If you're looking for a nice place to rest your head on a pretty, quiet street, this is the place. Staff is friendly, helpful, and available 24/7. Single bathrooms and showers on each floor. Location really is the key. Right on bus line 24 that takes you to Trafalgar and close to both Plimco and Victoria Stations. Local pubs and restaurants nearby. Would stay again.
Astor Victoria Hostel was a wonderful choice I made when I got to London. I don't believe I could have found anywhere else that was more helpful and kind as the people who work here. Karthik ,Jess, Danny, and Katie were above and beyond beautiful hosts and especially helpful as far as information as directions. They were very helpful in surrounding areas for good food and transportation. I will most certainly stay with them for my next trip. I thank each and every one of them, even those who I didn't name. Rooms: The rooms are set up as dorm rooms with bunk beds, and some rooms have 6 beds, and some rooms have 10 or 8 beds. There are 2 showers and 2 toilets on each floor for the rooms to use on those floors. There are 2 kitchens on the 1st floor and refrigerators to keep your food. Walkability: There's not an elevator, so I wouldn't call it wheelchair accessible. There are 9 sets of stairs. Noteworthy details: If it's difficult for you to climb up to the top bunk ,they will work with you and help you get a bottom bunk when you make your reservation. They're extremely friendly and sweet people.
