an excellent accolade for South Shields. They have okay parking on the street around the area (not a car park I'm afraid)... Great facilities that are disabled friendly. The staff there are knowledgeable, and it's great for education in Tyneside. The school attached it it was once where my grandmother went to Primary School.

A reconstruction of a gate into a Roman fort and the living quarters of both ordinary Roman soldiers and their commanding officer. You really get a sense of how people of the time lived especially with the rooms set up. There's a small museum on site with interesting displays as well

Fortunately the weather was ok so we had good time. Shop is adequate but not exciting. Probably recommend it, pure ROMAN history.

An archaeological wonder right in the middle of South Shields. It has a good museum, walkaround, reconstructed west gate, lovely views of South Shields, North Shields from the West Gate, fun activities for the kids and free parking! The entrance is free too.
