It's amazing to see how this site has evolved over its life, from a church to a military post to a tourist attraction. It's an amazing place to wonder the grounds and discover its past. If you like history and exploring expect to spend a least an hour or two. You could also however spend 15-30 mins looking and walking around quickly, if that's the case, its probably not worth the money.

Bit of a grey day, but great views... The priory and WW2 battlements are really interesting. Worth a visit if you're in the area.

Usually quiet - a haven of peace in busy Tynemouth on hot days. Truly interesting mix of history with the Priory ruins, plus the military use of the site. Great for picnics. Toilets on site. Spectacular views north over sweeping sands to St Mary's lighthouse, or south over the mouth of the Tyne and the huge South Shields beaches.

Lovely priory. Picturesque views. Has a good castle, majestic remains of the priory. Also a huge gun from the world war era. Good views of North and South Shields and the North Sea.

A castle, priory and graveyard , ww1 defences and coast guard centre. Awesome location beautiful scenery. A good place for children with the exception of cliffs on 3 sides.
