We took our Year 2 children for a visit, I could not praise Dave and Dave enough, they were amazing! So much information delivered in a fun and engaging way. the children and adults loved it. Everyone left with a lot more knowledge and a great big smile!
The guy who showed us around the museum today apologies, I've forgotten his name, but the reviews below suggest it's Dave was absolutely fantastic - incredibly knowledgeable and passionate. It's a tiny museum but, thanks to him, we were there nearly two hours :-
A little treasure. Fascinating and informative. A joy I was surprised and a little disheartened that so few people know it is there Yes its a 10 mon walk from car park but so what! Free but donations welcomed as run entirely by volunteers - just as the life boats are. Go. Its really worth it and was my pleasure to leave a donation
Had an amazing time at the museum today. Was given a lovely tour by Dave who gave us wonderful history and local details that made the experience more realistic and fun! Strongly recommend everyone to call in and have a look, you will learn so much and have a great time!
A real hidden gem of naval history - you should definitely book time and visit this place. You'll be surprised of the uniqueness and history collected here. I know, I was...Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedYes
Excellent to visit and get information of past recues events etc, learn a lot about what these very brave and willing persons do to save a life! God bless and keep them safe! Amen
Visited TVLB with the SVLB sar team today and we were greeted by Dave who immediately welcomed us all in to the brigade watchouse. TVLB is one of only three volunteer life brigades left within the country. TVLB being the oldest. The brigade watchouse has an abundance of local history and I would urge anyone visiting the area to visit here. Today the have over 20 volunteers who regularly attend callouts from the Maritime Coastguard to either help Her Majesty's Coastguard or independently complete a rescue. Their actions today make tomorrow's history. Good luck to everyone at Tynemouth Volunteer Life Brigade
Absolutely fascinating museum, Dave was incredibly helpful and gave a brilliant tour. Highly recommended!
Bit of a hike from the carpark but well worth it if only for the view of the Tyne. Small and interesting museum.
It was closed on an open day. No explanation was left outside why it was closed other than a "We're sorry we are closed sign". The website said that it was open as well with no update explaining the sudden closure. Not happy.
