We had an amazing meal here - all three courses were delicious! The starter of king prawns was delicate, buttery and a nice hit of garlic. The waygu beef steak was cooked to perfection, tender and super flavourful. And their take on tiramisu stole the show, such lovely flavours of coffee and cream all came together. I’d highly recommend it!
Spent an amazing afternoon and evening here for my wife's birthday. The location is amazing, the building is beautiful and the staff couldn't be more professional. The food was exquisite and we rounded the evening off with a wonderful cheese board and some vintage port. The whole experience was everything we hoped for and more. Definitely on my list of favourites! Thanks
Food was really good for the most part - lamb, duck, pig cheek, gochujang chicken. Tiramisu was a bit of a letdown - with a twist but not sure the twist worked. Beautiful place in a beautiful village.
Excellent village pub/restaurant. We sat outside on the front terrace in the sun, whilst overlooking the beautiful village green of Nun Monkton. Service was excellent throughout, food was even better and drinks matched too. Also dog-friendly - 5* from Paddy too !Food: 5/5
Beautiful place, great quality food in lovely surroundings Parking: Lots and free Wheelchair accessibility: Plenty of entrances, ground floor
We stayed the night and enjoyed dinner and breakfast in the restaurant. Firstly, the architecture of the garden rooms is exquisite. The use of Douglas Fir throughout and the beautiful interiors are a magnificent example of modern architecture mixed with traditional building techniques. We had a large spacious room with a generous bathroom. The food was exquisite too, we enjoyed a starter main and dessert and enjoyed every one. Breakfast was delicious too. The staff are helpful and friendly and we are very happy to recommend The Alice Hawthorn as one of the Norths best places to stay and eat.
Wonderful historic village maypole madness, Alice Hawthorn inn a plus wonderful food great staff would recommend to anybody well worth a visit thank you all. Been back just as good the second time food really special staff very good premise well looked after big thank you again.
Mixed feelings due to mixed messages about my two night stay here for work. Rather odd reception when I arrived. I was told I was the only guest staying that night. The gentleman at the bar who was booking me in immediately started asking me if I would like a later breakfast so that the staff could come in later in the morning. I explained I had an early start for a meeting. But explained I’d be happy to have a later breakfast the following morning. The following morning arrives - I come down just after 10am to discover the kitchen stopped serving breakfast at 9.30am. That’s the earliest breakfast finish I know of from any other hotel I’ve stayed in. Appears the staff are running the hotel to serve themselves and their own timings. So, turned out to be an expensive bed and breakfast option with no breakfast available after 9.30am. Doubtful I’d stay here again. Other, better options locally. Wheelchair accessibility: Lots of options on ground level
We stayed overnight on our way back from Scotland. We had garden rooms and they were beautiful. They smelt so wonderfully of wood, being the main body of the rooms. Lovely beds if a little soft, but facilities were v.good. beautiful evening meal that was charged separately from the cost of the rooms. Breakfast was beautiful and lots of choice and included in the room price. If you want cheap large everyday pub grub this will not be the place for you. If you expect expensively beautiful accommodation, good service and fine dining go to the Alice Hawthorn. Magical.
Lovely restaurant with wonderful staff. Couldn't fault the service at all. The food was a bit hit and miss. The menu has a lovely selection of starters, all of which we tried were spot on. The mains were a bit disappointing. They have very options, most of which are meat based options. I would have liked to see a few more vegetarian options or even a few chicken based dishes. I would still recommend this place. Parking: Plenty of parking space.
