2 night stay on a business trip. Room was a decent size but very dated. Thought I'd gone back to 1974. AC did not work, and still wasn't working when I left despite asking 3 people to get it fixed. The did provide me with a fan however. The best part of the stay was breakfast which was good and freshly cooked. Other than that I'd avoid this one. The Apex just down the road is much nicer
The staff at the hotel are incredibly kind and helpful. All of our encounters were pleasant. We did have several problems with the hotel. The list of problems: * The only lift for the hotel was broken during our entire stay of 3 nights. We were on the 3rd floor and had several pieces of luggage with our group. * We were told that we could park from late night to 8:30am on the street without a problem. We got a 30 pound parking ticket at 8:17am. The actual time when meters started was 8:00am. * The WiFi in the room was horribly slow. I could not work. * The room smelled of cigarette smoke and mildew. * The bedrooms are dated. They had a bit of dust around the furniture and curtains and the mattress sunk in the middle. * The toilet was difficult to flush. * The sink only had cold water or, after asking for a repair, only hot water. We had to get drinking water from the bathtub. * They gave little toilet paper and tissues that we had to get more from the front desk the first day. Housekeeping did not service the room on the first day, for some reason.
Having travelled 8 hours and 30 minutes from London to Glasgow we just wanted to relax in a nice comfy hotel. We booked this hotel as it was a good location. Was newly refurbished and had parking facilities included. After the long journey we arrived. Realised there was no parking and called the hotel. They told us to park in Q Park opposite. Once we had the ticket a discount voucher would be given to us on checking in, so we did this. Checking in we were met by a nice lady who gave us our room keys and then a sheet of paper advising that we go online. Enter a special code to get the parking at 40% off. Not free as advertised. As we were walking to our room I said the corridors smelt a bit. Entering the room the smell got worse. It was like a very small cigarette smell. I opened the window to try air it out. The room was small, very tatty and old looking. We booked a room with a queen bed and it was more like a double. The bathroom was very old. Only the cold water tap worked. The provided “luxury” soaps were not luxury and very watered down. The water was also £2 and not complimentary. We went to the bar. The lady was nice and she made a decent old fashioned. When we go back to the room I tried sorting the parking. Realised the code couldn’t be put anywhere so I called reception and spoke with a gentleman. He said don’t worry the code can be put into the machine when paying. Had the worst night sleep. The smell of the room was so bad it kept us awake. The AC was not working. So we kept the window open and had loud noises from the streets of drunk people all night. We had to wake up early as the reason we came to Glasgow was for a funeral. Couldn’t have breakfast as the kitchen opens at 8am. This is quite late compared with other hotels. Went to check out which was easy enough. Then went to the car park. No option to put the code in. So I went back to the hotel. Explained what had happened and the lady sympathised, said we had been wrongly informed and gave us the discount in cash to help make up for the parking error. I wouldn’t stay at this hotel again based on the rooms. Service was okay. The hotel also doesn’t look anything like this pictures they have posted.
First of all, the entire building is in very bad condition! The room we were given was extremely hot and had a terrible odor, and the bathroom smelled awful. I don't recommend this hotel to anyone. There are better options just across the street.Rooms: 1/5
Stayed here for one night en route to the Highlands. Good location and the building itself is cool. Rooms are pretty standard and in my room the safe was broken and the windows didn’t close properly. The bistro or bar or whatever they call it has the Charme of an airport lounge. Staff is really friendly All in all however, I would not stay there again
The room left much to be desired, no cold water from the bathroom taps, no bottled water in the room, no fridge to keep drinks cold. Standard flat screen tv, unable to connect to phone. No onside parking - it's across the road at the Q Park. Breakfast buffet is £20 per day and not included in room bookings Room service did bring me a jar of water whenever I asked for one. The bed was super soft and bouncy - great nights sleep! There was aircon in the room which I really was grateful for. The hotel itself is beautiful and retains a lot of its historical charm... including a cage elevator to get up stairs! Rooms: Retro decorated. Nothing in the rooms is free - snacks and drinks are left but these are chargeable! Iron & ironing board supplied. Kettle, hair dryer, aircon also in the room. Food & drinks: Didn't eat a I felt it was expensive and had little variety, but the bistro serves food till 9.30pm and the bar is open till midnight.
Photographs well but… GROSS!! The room is large. As soon as we entered the hallway for our room it reeked of cigarettes. Our room smells stale and the carpet looks like it hasn’t been replaced nor cleaned since 1980-something. The couch is in poor condition tattered edges, lacking cushion and the bathroom is super basic, a bit dirty and barely a step up from a hostel bathroom. Not what I was expecting based on the description and photographs.
The good: Elegant hotel with grand staircase. Large room with massive bed, sofabed and armchair. Nice soaps. Only a few minutes walk from the centre. The bad Expensive sodas and snacks £2.50 for a warm can of diet coke. Old, small TV with no smart capability. No fridge. No USB sockets. Reception staff didn't greet or acknowledge us whenever we left or arrived at the hotel. The ugly The room was ridiculously hot. The A/C had to left on maximum all night and the window left open to make it bearable. The a/c fan was 35.5db measured from the bed
Felt like royalty in a quaint wee castle. What a gem in the centre of Glasgow. My daughter had never seen a gate lift so new experience for her. Room spacious and bed so comfortable hopefully if price remains reasonable we will be back.Rooms: 5/5
The receptionist was exceptional going the extra mile to make sure my stay was a good one. I was having eye surgery the next day so she got me a room on the ground floor. Her name was either Nicola or Nicole. Thank you for making me feel special
