Overall, it is very central, but it is located near the top of a very steep hill. All of the staff were extremely professional and helpful. Rooms left a bit to be desired, next to no water pressure for the shower. There was no mini fridge in one of the rooms, but there was one in another - meaning there is some level of inconsistency across the rooms. Breakfast was a big saving grace, however, and worth investing in.
The building itself is very interesting, consisting of an old Greek church and an adjoining building. It's well appointed, and the staff are very friendly and helpful. It was comfortably warm when we were there. There is a bar and a bistro in the basement of the hotel which looked good didn't try, see below. Location is good, not in the centre of things but only a small walk away; we only walked for the few days we were there. Room was well maintained and had some great tea and coffee options. Only minor gripes on the downside, opportunities for improvement. The bar only had lagers and an IPA. No darker beers, not even cans of Guinness or similar. Seemed an odd omission. The duvet on the bed was too much for the temperature in the room. I eventually pulled the duvet out to just use the cover as a sheet which was more than enough. There was no separate light for the cupboard including the hot drinks and the safe. This meant you need to put all the ceiling lights on to see, which wasn't great for anyone sleeping at the time. Should be easy to fit something more specific. We also had a room next to the linen cupboard, so we were woken up each morning by the housekeepers opening doors, chatting, banging trollies. Not so bad because we needed to get up, but if you didn't it might annoy. But it's only one room. Rooms: warm almost too much, well appointed and clean Nearby activities: Great cafés, museums and market in the area Safety: We did see vagrancy and drunkenness Had been a football derby, and the smell of MJ but didn't feel threatened. There were some pavement damage that could cause tripping etc Walkability: It's easy to get to and around the city centre but it is a little hilly
Good location in Central Glasgow close to the station. Rooms were clean and of a decent size, if a little dark and outdated. Bed was comfortable and there was a good selection of choices for breakfast. Medium glass of wine was £10, which feels a little above average. Floor boards squeaked throughout such that when someone walked around in the next room over it sounded like they were in the same room. Lady on reception was lovely and very chatty.
I had an amazing overnight stay for mother's Day with my daughter, it was beautiful. So comfortable the staff are lovely Andrew was on when I arrived, so welcoming and Hayden was on front desk in the morning he had answers to all questions I had as the building is stunning. It was such a special stay for me. Will absolutely be back.Rooms: 5/5
Lovely hotel. We were warmly welcomed by Haydn and given a room upgrade as it was my birthday. Room was lovely and bathroom was very nice with plenty of hot water forthe showers Breakfast was delicious with buffet options, fresh fruit and yoghurt along with cooked options. Can strongly recommend this hotel and look forward to staying here in the future.
I had a fantastic night with my mum and my son in a lovely beyond comfortable suite. The reception team was very polite and helpful with map and all the information as it was my first time in Glasgow. Many thanks to Heyden that helped us with the suitcases and had always a big smile for us. See you soon
Good hotel all areas seemed a little warm for comfort especially our room. Dingy mood lighting in the breakfast room made reading the menu almost impossible.Rooms: 4/5
The room was cold with no bathroom heater on. For my first night the bed linen smelt of body odour, I asked if they could change it for my second and last night, which they did and the bedding was lovely. The hotel is in dire need of a major refurbishment. The black and red are really old fashioned and paint is peeling off the walls, with exposed wires. Damaged furniture in the bar and dining room. The breakfast is good, you can order your hot meal. The buffet is a sad sight, cereal boxes and a couple of choices of fruits and yoghurts. The staff are absolutely lovely. I wouldn’t stay again, not until it’s been refurbished m. Sorry.
Nice hotel but, as usual for this chain, far too dark and therefore somewhat depressing! Difficult to even see what was on offer for breakfast.....Rooms: 4/5
Amazing hotel! A great place to stay that is also dog friendly everywhere expect the restaurant which is fair. Our room was great, never heard a single noise from other guests coming and going despite being beside the lift. Staff were lovely and we look forward to staying again. Rooms: Super comfortable and decorated well. Great amenities to use as well. Food & drinks: The bar downstairs is lovely, great selection of drinks with a nice atmosphere.
