First impressions not bad. Then try and park, very limited hotel parking, which the hotel charge you for. No luck for us, had to park in front of the hotel and buy council parking costs, which has to be renewed each day. Check in ok but they didn't take a swipe of my credit card and then told I couldn't charge meals to my room. The TV in the room awful reception so almost unwatchable. Room itself is ok. Staff in the bar very nice and food good. So all in all very mixed review to what should have been a nice stay. Hotel management must sort out the issues raised or we won't be back. Hotel too expensive for these issues. Ok day two at the winchester and Spa hotel. Last night I couldn't have a glass of wine I wanted, they'd run out. There were only two wines available so I had to go for the other wine which was more expensive. Despite the room costing £300 breakfast was not included, which was good as we ate outside the hotel, saved anymore disappointment. Then having paid our council parking again we had a walk around the city. We returned to the hotel for lunch, only to find the kitchen is closed for lunch!!! It reopens at 3pm, after everyone has eaten. While we were sitting in the Bar/restaurant 3 other groups of guests were told, no food at this restaurant until after lunch. You couldn't make it up!! All the time the poor staff had to fend off the managements insane policies. The picture shows the bar/restaurant at the height of the lunchtime rush. So to sum up my experience and weekend in the hands of the Winchester Hotel and Spa are very mixed. The Hotel is a nice building full of lovely hard working staff. The hotel management however are very different. They only work 9 to 5 Monday to Friday? So any problems outside these times have to be delt with by young under paid lovely staff. The nonexistent management have put in place very odd procedures example closing the kitchen for lunch the fallouts which have to be delt with by young loyal staff. My advice is to sack the entire management structure and promote and pay the existing young loyal staff members to permanently run what should be a lovely hotel.
A very good hotel. Excellent location, only a 10 minute walk from the town centre. Very nice decor in the lobby and bar area.nnThe spa facilities are excellent - decent sized sauna, steam room and jacuzzi. The pool is quite small but very nice.nnThe breakfast was top notch. A really great selection and the hotel caters extremely well for gluten free - in fact I have rarely seen so many GF options. It is dog friendly and we were made to feel welcome with our dog - we had to eat in the bar area with the dog but this worked very well.nnOn the downside, our standard double room was quite small and nothing special, although the bed was very comfortable. Perhaps other rooms are more special.nnThe main bugbear was that the spa got very busy during our stay - sometimes it was at capacity and we had to wait to use it.nnI have removed a star for this, otherwise I probably would have given 5 stars.nnOverall, a very nice hotel and we would come again.
We recently hosted a birthday party here and had an absolutely wonderful time! The entire experience was seamless from start to finish. A huge thank you to Jodie in reservations for making the booking process so easy and stress-free.nUpon arrival, Summer, Jess, and Oakley at reception gave us such a warm welcome and set a great tone for the day. The food was a highlight—compliments to Simon and Chris in the kitchen for the delicious meals. A special shoutout to Tobby from the F&B team, who took excellent care of us. Thank you all for making the birthday so memorable!
There is a lot to love about this hotel, but I would not recommend staying here unless you like sleeping in a sauna.nnThe goodn-The service is great, the front desk, the bar and the spa. All the employees were lovely and very helpful when I approached them.n-The hotel looks great on the inside, rooms were small but very nice and the bathrooms are lovely.n-I had a massage in the spa and it was amazing! The masseuse was brilliant.n-The rest of the spa facilities were as you would expect for a hotel spa. Pool, hot tub, sauna & steam room.n-Onsite parking was very convenientnnThe badn-The rooms were ridiculously hot. I was part of a large group booking and nearly everyone had issues with it being too hot in the roomn-The mini fridge in my room wasn't working
I was lucky enough to be gifted a full massage and the person who delivered this therapy was excellent. She had a super technique. The staff were very welcoming and kind. The onsite hotel parking very convenient. Overall, an amazing experience.
