Whilst the garden centre itself was a good selection of mainly healthy plants and some interesting accessories. The staff on the other hand are frosty at best and contemptuous at worst! interacted with two other staff one male and one female. The male was spoke in a matter of fact way but didn’t engage further. The service at the till was so horrible that I regretted making a purchase! I’m a fairly cheerful and very polite person although I don’t expect this of others I do expect at least being acknowledged, I was definitely asking too much here. The female assistant did not greet me, dispite me saying hello and asking her how her day was. She asked me if I had a family card and I said no, but didn’t tell me what it was or how it might benefit me. Then in the middle of my transaction she answered the phone, was fairly gruff with whoever was asking questions on the phone, telling them, in no uncertain terms ‘you’ll have to do that on the website’, she made no effort to engage eye contact to acknowledge that I was still in in existence, didn’t acknowledge my greeting of thank you, I help my hand out for me recept and she slapped it on the counter with a flourish of contempt. I said goodbye and… nothing not even a look! I’ve had this same frosty service from this person before and now I remember why I go out of my way to go to other places. I will not recommend this place, I can pay cheaper prices and get at least a smile or a hello elsewhere. I was so insenced that I wrote this in the car park before driving off.
The afternoon tea in the cafe was delicious, a good variety of sandwiches, cakes, scones, trifle, we ended up bringing some cakes home to eat later, staff in the cafe and main garden centre are very friendly and helpful, there are a good selection of plants and gifts and if you fancy a new bathroom you can see some lovely designs downstairs on the lower floor
This comment relates to the cafe not the garden centre. It wasn’t very busy, service was very slow. Ordered 2 lattes was more like warm milk and 2 soup of the day - tomato and basil. Twenty minutes later soup was bought out by a young lad wearing earphones and soup was not as requested was mushroom instead though it did taste good. Very disappointed given the good reviews
Bought 2 boxes of warm string lights , did keep receipts as they were twice the price of other lights I had seen in other shops but went with these thinking better quality , bot sets only lasted a month … £40 out
This place is wonderful, the food is delicious, there's indoor and outdoor dining. The shop is full of lovely gifts and there is a huge array of plants and trees to peruse at your leisure. Ask for a card, with this you'll get amazing deals and discounts here, and at their sister centres. Enjoy!
