I would say the average time it takes me to get through to the reception is 15-20 minutes. This is no exaggeration. And without fail, no matter what time I call by the time I get through they do not have any appointments left. When they tell me they have appointments the next day, I say Great! And then she tells me to call back tomorrow at 8am to make it. It is beyond ridiculous. One time I drove to the surgery in the time I was on hold and walked into the reception where not a single person was waiting and spoke to them in person in the time they were ignoring the call (18 minutes). They then told me the doctor would need to call me to evaluate the symptoms before they would make an appointment. I asked the reception team to advise the doctor I would wait in the reception as I wouldn't drive an hour round trip to and from work if they could eventually fit me in and yet when the doctor called me 15 minutes later they had no idea I was there and they saw me a few minutes later. The phone system is to say the least... abysmal. I have never had such a terrible doctor surgery in this respect however there are supposedly no others local any better. The doctors themselves are fantastic if you can get in to see them. I have sat in the reception many a time and watched the reception team activity ignore the phone ringing while they chat about other things. There is an average of 2-3 people on reception...What for I have no idea. They also never referred me to the midwife when I was pregnant despite me calling to check twice. This meant I was much later than I should have been with my first intro appointment. I ended up referring myself when I nagged the reception team for a number to call.

Doctors are great here but the receptionists have made this place worse lately. 4 months ago a paramedic told me to get my GP to call me within a 2 hour time limit as it's urgent .I rang the surgery and the receptionist told me that I can't have a doctor call me back as it's not urgent even though they had a message from the paramedic saying it is. I keep getting told to call back at 8am in the morning but I never get an appointment. It's been 4 months and my health is getting worse as I haven't been able to get checked or get my medication. The receptionists are rude and disorganized. Plus it takes about 20-30 minutes waiting on the phone before they even pick up. My complaints just keep getting ignored as well.

Busy surgery but excellent service from GPs, nurses and support staff. I simply do not recognise all the critical comments about the reception staff in the reviews - I've never known them (including those at the Victoria branch) to be anything but 100% courteous and professional in what must be a very high pressure job.

I've been with them for a few years and it used to be excellent. Doctors and nurses always been fine but the reception could have a bit more competency, also the new appointment system is absolutely rubbish. Very disappointed and I am moving on with family.

I have been with this practise for over 20 years myself and my family have been supported through some tuff time's. I have seen many good changes at mapperley and its a great GP practise i would be lost withought them. Thank you
