I’ve only ever received decent care from this hospital, but please call 111 before coming in to A&E you are not seriously ill or injured. If they deem it necessary, you’ll be given a time slot for arrival to significantly lessen the wait and reduce crowding.nWent in last night on a weekend, which is usually the busiest to confirm and treat a suspected herniated disc + spasms, and was finished within 3 hours despite the wait time from check-in being 10 hours and 45 minutes.nIt’s not always guaranteed to be this quick because they operate on a priority-basis, but it’s certainly a lot faster.
I was born there. It's been around forever. It is one of the biggest hospitals in London.nnOld buildings mixed with bolted on new wings.nnAccident and emergency on a Friday and Saturday night is like an episode of Netflix Black Mirror, the first season not the second and definitely not the third.nnThe staff do their best and work hard. I appreciate everything they do, from the cleaners' porters, doctors, and nurses, to the receptionist and everyone else in between.nnLewisham Hospital is a magnificent example of social care.nnLong live the NHS!
I've been looked after in this hospital a few times over the years, as an inpatient as well as for outpatient treatment and ambulatory care. This time it started with a dodgy blood test result that had me called in urgentky at 2.30am!!! Of course everyone has different experiences but mine have always - as this time - been excellent. Yes the waits can be long as everywhere but the staff that I've seen have been kind, considerate, professional and clear. I feel fortunate to have this as my local hospital.
Came in for a tetatus shot after being in an accident. We'll managed and great doctors / nurses. It was a busy day so had a bit of a wait understandable given the lower priority.
Bought my wife to A and E Lewisham after she been ill with vomiting and severe pain.nTriage done blood tests and put her on medication without even a doctor seeing her, came in at 8pm and still here 2.15am, when asked duty manager says doctor already called her, she was on a drip for all this time, how is this place run, so much negligence, I can't believe our health system is so bad!
