Last Sunday I have approached just about every member of staff and had a great help choosing a right backpack. Although I live in NW and have some other outdoor shops closer to home, I prefer Kingston. Little warning though (hence only 4 stars) if you like to browse through your goretex, camping gear, fleece jackets and boots quietly, Ultimate Outdoors in Kingston is everything but quiet. Indoor playground with several kids running around and screaming (there's always a little Damian crying) while mums and aupairs are busy chatting, will be little uncomfortable.

The worst customer service I have ever experienced. If I could give less than one star I would. Staff are ill informed (or just deliberately misinform customers) and ill mannered. I was given incorrect information about this specific store's returns & refunds policy, as a result of which I was subsequently refused a refund on returning my purchase despite it being within the period I was verbally advised I could return it for a refund. Further, the member of staff dealing with my request was aggressive and abrasive from the start without any cause or provocation, and had no interest in listening to anything I had to say regarding the information I was given at the time of purchase. Such defensive behaviour suggests it may have been the same member of staff who misinformed me to begin with at the time of purchase. In any event, in future I will be taking my business elsewhere to the many, many other better quality outdoor stores in the Kingston area where the staff are also more knowledgeable about and able to provide product advice, and would strongly advise everyone to do the same, as the abrasive and aggressive behaviour, and utter lack of customer service at this store are not worth your hard earned money.

Quite a big shop with a reasonably large range. The help from staff is variable: some staff are extremely knowledgeable and helpful, others will fetch shoes from stock then disappear. There is a small kids soft play area at the back where the cafe is.

What a horrible experience. Not too bad for kids to have a bit of fun but terrible service. They run out of servilletes and lied saying the colleague had gone downstairs to get them. He never did and when complained he told me “you are not allowed to talk to me like that” the “supervisor” was very rude and unhelpful. Disgusted by the food as well. Never again!
