Went on a Thursday evening in January for a birthday meal. Glad we booked as it was pretty busy. The quality and taste of the food was fantastic as was the price and service. Highly recommend- we will definitely be back soon
Used to be the beating heart of Hay. The food is good, but the atmosphere is now too formal and aimed at tourists, not locals the local feeling ironically was what attracted the tourists previously, everyone won. Once vibrant and friendly is now clinical and the community feeling, gone. This place worked because it had soul. Now only open a few nights a week. Loosen the tie.
Changed hands, hasn’t updated website to say you can now book, we arrived super early to be told no chance of a table. We come every 4 months to run in the hills and enjoy the aubergine fries and friendly atmosphere both have unfortunately disappeared. Hopefully will change once they have found their feet but definitely put us off for a while.
1st customers on their 1st night & I am so glad - displays is absolutely amazing. Every dish we tried was out of this world delicious. Prawns cooked perfection. delicious cheese croquets, literally everything was absolutely outstanding. we celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary here and could not have had a more fun fine food experience
Had the most wonderful meal last night for the last night of my holiday.nnWe ordered 8 dishes, the venison in chocolate and sesame and the roasted cauliflower salad were definitely firm favourites although all the dishes were delicious.nnI had the lime pot with brandy snap for dessert. I could have eaten 50 of them they were so good.nnThe staff were just incredible. Friendly, welcoming and attentive, would recommend the restaurant to anyone. Thank you for such a lovely evening.
