We were very happy with our stay at the Thistle. We arrived early before check-in, hoping to leave a bag while we went out to explore, but were told our room was all ready and we could get in early, which was a lovely surprise. The room it self was comfortable and clean. The location was an easy walk to many of the areas we planned on visiting West End, Chinatown, Leicester Square, Trafalgar Square, The National Gallery, St. James Park, Soho, etc. The room was fairly quiet at night, considering we were only a few blocks from a busy area. As an added bonus, the room came with water bottles, coffee, tea and biscuits that were refreshed daily. I would definitely recommend the Thistle in Trafalgar Square. Rooms: Comfortable, clean, big enough for 2 people. Walkability: The location was an easy walk to many of the areas we planned on visiting West End, Chinatown, Leicester Square, Trafalgar Square, The National Gallery, St. James Park, Soho, etc.
We stayed here for our family vacation to London. This is a great location, and within mins of everything. Very convenient walking distance to major entertainment and food options. The staff here are amazing and helpful. The place is very clean and our entire room was full windows and views! Now, the only issue I had was the bathroom. Fixtures were loose, I needed to tighten the shower head myself. Some of the tiles were cracked, the toilet seat was loose, and the toilet paper holder fell off the wall. The worst part was that shower controls were very loose and hard to get a temperature every use. Other than that, the bed was very comfortable, we had a lot of closet space and a mini fridge in our room. Across the street, there are amazing options for a quick breakfast, too. And one block up, you will find many options for dining and entertainment. Rooms: Very large, comfortable, and clean. The bathroom could use some maintenance. Nearby activities: Multiple dining options and entertainment. Walkability: This place has a great location and accessible to many different dining options.
Incredible customer service! We checked into our room and found that it was a wheelchair accessible room, the AC was not working and it had a strong odor of glue from the renovations. We spoke with the front desk and although they had no rooms to switch us to, the manager arranged for us to go to their sister hotel only a block away, he walked us down to the room himself to have us check and see if it was satisfactory, then helped us switch over even offered to help personally with luggage. He arranged for us to have our breakfast for free and sent up a bottle of champagne to our new room. Absolutely fantastic customer service!
Great location for where we were going. The room, however, was very disappointing. The bathroom door was hanging off its hinges and the window sills between the double glazing were absolutely filthy. Additionally, the milk supplied in the room was out of date and curdled in drinks. The staff refused to let us buy coffee upon arrival after a show, saying the machine was switched off. Rooms: Small and not well maintained
Having stayed at royal trafalgar hotel last night 4/11/24. We stayed at this hotel before, on arrival a very friendly welcome at reception, we had a executive room on the 3rd floor .the king bed was amazing so comfortable, with the comfiest of pillows .the wide screen tv is the biggest I've seen in any hotel , the rainforest shower was superb. Powerful and refreshing. This hotel is between trafalgar sq and Leicester sq every major attraction is within walking distance. All staff were helpful friendly and professional ,but I have to mention Cyril was extra special, he was friendly ,helping with a ramp for a wheelchair , and welcoming our 90year old motherinlaw.cyril was at breakfast helping every guests needs ,he us a real asset to the hotel. Breakfast at the hotel , you have a choice of English breakfast, continental, hams and cheeses ,bagels, orange and apple juice, tea coffee cappuccino plenty of choices. I could stay a week here lol. Well done to all staff and management
Just got back from a trip to London. The hotel is situated in a fantastic location, right on the edge of Soho and Trafalgar Square. The hotel staff were extremely helpful. I called in the day before my arrival requested somewhere to leave my luggage as we were arriving early. The lady I spoke to organising for my room to be ready, which it was, so I managed to check in at 8:30am instead of 3pm. The room was very spacious with a huge bed, and everything else you would expect to see.
HUGE bed, and I mean HUGE. Two people can easily lay and star fish in the bed without touching each other. Bathroom had an amazing shower in it with good pressure, something that isn't common in hotel bathrooms. As we were seeing a play at His Majesty's Theatre, this location was absolutely perfect. We were close to the theatre, but also places like the Lego Store and China Town. And for that the price was very reasonable.
The location of the hotel is perfect and it is very convenient to all the attractions and the transportations. However, the service is not anywhere near to a 4-star level. Here are the issues we experienced: 1. The shampoo ran out on the second night. We requested 3 times it hadn't been taking care of. We finally did it ourselves. 2. We were told we will be issue a voucher for the day we don't request house keeping on the first we checked in. And we were told the vouchers can be used for breakfast. No one mentioned any limited rules, such as “you have to pick up the voucher every day” etc. Since we stayed for 11 days, we finally got 4 vouchers in hand. When we claimed them for breakfast on the day 10, we were told the vouchers can not be used for breakfast in the hotel restaurant… 3. The shower head was dripping water, which makes a noise during the night. We request for repair. Again, no response… 4. For the house keeping, we only request for the bathroom. They did extra, including touching my sleeping dress and moved my suitcase… I emphasized that please do not touch my personal items. It happened again. So we have to stop the house keeping for the rest of the days. So, if you are interested in booking here, please do not expect to be treated as 4-stars.
The reception staff here was super friendly and helpful. The room itself was big but a bit on the shabby side. The bathroom wasnt very clean with black mold on the tiles and the drain cover popping up but nice walk in shower with good pressure. Even the hallways were a bit shabby. They had signs saying they were upgrading though so might get nicer. It was an amazing location! Super easy to get to all the main sights or main tube stops. Overall would stay again just hope the renovations include fixing up some of the more outdated parts of rooms and cleaning gets better
The location of this hotel is the only redeeming factor. The room, when I first came in, wasn’t even ready. The sofa mattress didn’t even have a cover. The showers were insanely hot, almost scalding, almost burned my skin, doesn’t seem like there’s a cold setting, and with absolutely no indication of how to use them. Only 2 members of the staff were helpful, the rest felt annoyed or perturbed that they were bothered. I had tried to call for a taxi using their service, and they said it would arrive in 15 minutes. After waiting, I went up to ask again, and they said that it was Cancelled. That’s very disrespectful. They didn’t tell us, and I would’ve been waiting for more time if I didn’t ask. After room cleaning, they gave us stained towels. My room number was 402. I hope no one goes through what I’ve been through in this disgusting, disgraceful, and disappointing hotel.
