Fantastic pub just 2 mins walk up the hill from the centre of town. Booked a table for 6 for dinner on a bitterly cold Saturday before Christmas. On entering the pub it had a great feel and hub-hub about it. Bar staff very friendly and helpful. Table reserved was wonderful no 16 right in front of the fire - so very welcome on this cold day. Menu isn't extensive but everything was executed very well and all food came out lovely and hot and very well presented. Thoroughly lovely meal. Pub had candles and they'd gone to a lot of trouble to dress it festively for Christmas. The meal hence was just perfect. Great find. We will definitely be back. Thank you.
I've only ever been in for a drink three or four times but this is a really nice bar, clean, welcoming, good selection of craft beers and great service. Perfect spot for a quiet afternoon pint. Please keep doing the Lilly's ciders my girlfriend loves them.
Disappointing to get my tapped beer with some crumpled plastic scum floating in it. The bartender claimed that it came from the keg. But there is no way that the plastic could have come through the spigot. There was no apology. Just a fresh pour. A better establishment would have comped the beer with a big sorry.
Highly recommend. Great atmosphere, decent selection of beers and the first time in a very long time I’ve paid for 2 pints and the first figure not been in double digits! Had a Turkey and bacon sandwich and chips, absolutely lovely, for what could be such a simple sandwich was just great.
All of the staff here are really nice and welcoming and extremely helpful and caring with arranging an event for us. The pub itself is located in the heart of Winchester and is just as welcoming as the staff : highly recommend this place as a venue or just the occasional meal and drink.Rooms: 5/5
Really nice looking bar. Just the one ipa on draught neck oil, and the food menu looked a bit basic, although we didn't have anything to eat here, so I can't comment on the quality. Staff were friendly, and there was a giant dog or possibly a small horse going round the tables looking for attention.
Lovely staff five star ! and a good selection of beers and ciders. But their beefburger wasn't very nice and overpriced for what you get
Lovely pub and staff. The manager is a lovely fella. Highly recommend it
I found this spacious pub to be a pleasant, peaceful oasis in the centre of Winchester on a Saturday afternoon. In fact it felt like a million miles away from the noisy, packed bars further back up the street. Has a shabby-chic interior which still manages to be sympathetic to the pub's traditional exterior in my opinion. Pub clean and comfortable. Bar staff friendly as were the other customers who appeared to be a mixture of regulars and visitors when I visited. Fair selection of lagers and real ales. Small, average looking beer garden at rear.
Nice pub, very friendly and happy staff, went on a Monday evening so not very busy.
