One of the best Sunday Roasts I have had in the UK. I have lived in Glasgow as in the north and Bournemouth down south. I love hunting for a good Sunday roast and a pint after the morning walks. We had Trio of Roasts. Beef was roasted perfectly to pink in the middle, pork belly is so succulent with crackling scratching, and even the chicken was superb delicious. The root vegs and potato, fried greens, cauliflower cheese bake this is really tasty and pickled cabbages were a great combo. Gravy was pipping hot. It added another layer of flavour without overpowering the main food. Every bite was delicious, well seasoned and thought through. Lightning can be better although once the eyes settled in. And the bill was presented in childhood books! Lovely touch there!
Haven't eaten here for a number of years as it was not really a pleasant experience. We have had a great surprise now the food is delicious, hot & well presented. An excellent selection of draught beers, wines & spirits. We found the menu had good variety & prices to suit most budgets. We will return. Vegetarian options: Good selection Parking: Pay & display next to pub unless you have residents permit.
The only issue was the poor light in some tables, but anyway it’s a 5/5 in my opinion. Beautifully decorated, lovely staff and cool beers. Sunday roast was amazing and huge! Perfect location as it is 3-5 min from the center, but not crowded as the others. I’ll be back for sure!
So lucky to be able to call the SJT my local! The staff are second to none, with absolutely outstanding service & delicious food. Plus surprisingly fair pricing! The atmosphere & ambiance is also like none other I have found elsewhere. I love this pub with my whole heart.Food: 5/5
Brilliant little pub. Cosy and comfortable atmosphere. We went for Christmas dinner in a group of 8. The food was brilliant and the service was very warm and attentiveFood: 5/5
For a celebration before the wedding, we took nearly 40, Brazilian guests to st James's Tavern. We wanted a low-key but English Pub experience for them. We chose the Saint James's Tavern due to its proximity to the venue where the wedding would be hosted. However, they were able to provide some of the best services And best food that I've ever had. They did fish and chips for 40 with gluten-free and vegetarian options. Also, as well as an extremely good, sticky toffee pudding. Many of the Brazilians said, previously they did not like fish and chips. However, these fish and chips were some of the best they'd ever had and they really enjoyed it. They charged us, no venue hire fees, like most people would And their service was calm and friendly throughout. It was a huge success and I hope to host other events at Saint, James's, Tavern in the future. Thank you so much.
In a city full of great pubs the SJT is amongst the best. Due to its location it can be a little quieter than some of the other city centre boozers but it's well worth the walk up the hill. A nice selection of seating and for a special occasion even has an upstairs dining room that you can book. Have eaten here a few times and the food is always great. Most recently visited on a Thursday, "burger night" and sampled the very tasty SJT Burger from the menu picture attached. Good selection of beers and a wonderful place to meet with friends for a catch up.
Popped in for lunch after an appointment nearby, staff were absolutely lovely and managed to accommodate us even though some tables were reserved. It was also nice to see rugby being played on the TVs rather than football, so we were able to see the Scotland Six Nations game.Food: 4/5
Great atmosphere, food and staff. We brought a pram in and despite it being very busy, staff were very accommodating. Excellent service.Food: 5/5
Friendly welcome, well kept Wadworth ales, nice lunchtime sandwiches with chips and salad. Sausage was great on fresh brown bread. Clean and comfy with outdoor seating.
