The Watermill Theatre

About

Created from a 19th century corn mill tucked away in the heart of the Berkshire countryside, The Watermill is an idyllic setting for one of the most vibrant producing theatres in the country.

Story

Each year, The Watermill mounts some 12 new productions, with work ranging from Shakespeare to musicals and classics to new plays. The Watermill's work is also seen on our extensive tours that visit theatres around the UK and abroad as well as work created for smaller scale village halls and rural arts centres.
The Watermill aims to be a focal point for our community. We run a flourishing youth theatre, holiday courses for young people, workshops in schools plus a wide range of community activities for all ages.

Love the location and fantastic shows. Seating upstairs along the side can give you neck ache and obscured, so go for forward facing or downstairs. Lovely intimate stage. Never been let down on acting quality or content. Getting out of parking area can be a challenge.

We attend a wonderful drama course for our little ones. Both my children love Waterminis. A great friendly group with talented and enthusiastic teachers. Reasonably priced, with a long waiting list, so apply sooner than you think. Lots of fun and the theatre itself is beautiful too, with amazing productions on offer for all the family.

Theatre is small intimate and intriguing. Gives a feeling that Shakespeare would have been at home there. Food in the small restaurant is excellent and the staff are very friendly and helpful.

The title says it all! It was a water powered mill that has been converted into a small, cosy theatre. The setting is beautiful for an evenings entertainment. Check out their website for what's on.

A small, quirky but beautiful theatre in stunning grounds. Pre-show buffet was excellent with a very good choice of hot and cold food. Staff very friendly and helpful. Absolute treat to visit.
