Really lovely place. We had a booking for Sunday lunch after a coast walk but arrived early as the weather took a turn. They got us in early and the roast is one of the best pub roasts we’ve ever had-absolutely delicious. Both children also loved it and hoovered up every scrap. They catered superbly for our daughter’s food allergies. The whole pub is stunning with a lovely atmosphere-fantastic staff. Highly recommend and we will be back!
I had a good time here. The waitresses are wonderful and the cocktails are superb. It's a lovely venue that carries a great atmosphere. The food is nothing special though and the menu not that impressive. It's decent enough though and the prices not bad in my opinion when you add it all up. They offered to take the service charge off the bill which was kind. I kept it on though as the staff were brilliant.
We were nearly put off by some of the reviews on here but glad we weren't. We had a fantastic evening meal in the bar area as the restaurant was fully booked. It had a really nice atmosphere, the staff were all friendly and attentive. The food was really nice & we thought good value for money. I had the vegetable tagine and the portion was large enough for 2 people. We will be back if we visit the area again.
Had lunch here. One lady staff member was very observant, attentive and helpful. Most appreciated. My fish stew was divine, my husbands steak was the best. Only our friend did not like his patty, preferred McDonalds, admittedly he had to send his 1st back as not cooked in the middle but staff were quick to respond Nearby activities: Almost on sandy beach with coastal path on doorstep. Parking limited. Walkability: Coastal path on doorstep Food & drinks: See above
Came to Porthtowan for the weekend as a group of 5 and had a high hopes as this place was recommended to us. My partner ordered a rare steak and was sarcastically treated by the blonde manager when we gently asked for it to be redone, who gave the impression it was down to personal taste - it just wasn’t a rare steak. We felt quite patronised. The lobster was chewy and overdone and when we told the waiter, he didn’t care. A shame when the main itself was £45+. A real shame. Go to the Blue Bar down the street - half the price and triple the quality and the service was incredible.
Bank Holiday week. They were very busy as the weather was excellent. Didn't book but they managed to squeeze us in. Food was very very good at a very reasonable price and because it was so busy they would not accept a service charge. Will definite go back again. Lovely setting too. Food & drinks: Excellent!!
Just had a New Year's Eve meal at the Unicorn and am now compelled to write a review - really disappointing. Overpriced and very average food - fish stew was mainly mussels in a stodgy tomato sauce. Bread served with margarine rather than the 'Cornish salted butter' on the menu - awful. The manager swore blind it was butter but it was 100% not. Overpowering lighting making the place feel like a community centre. And the music - oh my goodness.... Terrible 80s tracks none of the good ones played at max volume, which we asked to have turned down just a bit but no luck. Everyone around us was feeling the same. Some moved, some left. As soon as we'd done as much of our meal as we could stomach, we left too. What a shame on New Year's Eve. Won't be going back.
I've never rated this place from the outside but it just goes to show you shouldnt judge a book by its cover! . We went on Sunday after a walk on the beach. The kids loved the play area, and on a whim, we decided to have some food. Walking inside I was pleasantly surprised, its really lovely. The decor is really bright and lovely, smart and chic. The girl that served us was absolutely lovely, there was no kids vegetarian options on the menu but she went and found out what our son could have. The food was really lovely, the garlic mushrooms were SO rich and garlicky. My favourite was the teriyaki cauliflower- so delicious!!
I ordered the 8oZ Beef Burger and it was absolutely so tasty as well as the Peppercorn sauce being perfect. Would definitely recommend anyone to go here. To add the hospital was impeccable I felt so welcome and cared for whilst dining here.
Great location. Scruffy inside with some areas unfinished and doors not in use. Part of the place used for dining is okay although much of it with poor views. Went back a few days after and slightly better but not that impressed.Service: 1/5
