I've worked here a few times over the past year and it's a great place for either experienced workers or newcomers interested in hospitality to start their career. You get a great taste of all the aspects of pub work from waiting tables to tending a bar and running food to tables. There's a variety of shifts that you'll work, varying from breakfast in the morning or closing down in the evening. It's a great place if you're looking for somewhere to get some experience in hospitality. The staff are all welcoming, friendly and make you feel like a friend rather than a coworker. The team is close-nit and will make you feel right at home from day one. Overall a fun environment to work in with shifts varying from casual, quiet evenings to bustling lunchtimes.
And there is the 5 stars. After visiting on a previous occasion and it not all going according to plan, we decided to give it a second go and we are glad we did. Friendly customer service, well looked after. Very relaxed atmosphere and great food, which was served in good time with little fuss. Will definitely return here again. Keep up the good work
It was very comfortable, very friendly, good beer, good food & a spacious comfy room just too warm! Took me a while to work out the aircon . Great location for whizzing to north or south coasts. Included breakfasts were delicious & filling. Would definitely recommend
Great stay but below average food. We stayed 3 nights, excellent room, comfy bed, great shower and handy location to day trip around Cornwall. We ate in the pub on Saturday evening, the ‘nachos’ and soup of the day, they were bland, insufficient and frankly embarrassing. The nacho sauce/salsa was literally spiced ketchup, the guacamole was catering bucket variety, come on now.. But the staff were lovely and very hard working so I didn’t want to complain to them. Unless you’re ordering a fresh cooked item I wouldn’t bother eating here.
Excellent from the time of our arrival to the time of our departure. Very friendly, professional and helpful staff. A good menu in the restaurant served promptly and efficiently. The room was clean and well equipped apart from a missing reading light on one side of the bed and no light over the tea/coffee making area. A plus though with the provision of a Nespresso machine. A very enjoyable stay. Congratulations to all concerned.
Me and my friend came up for a Sunday carvery. Absolutely scrumptious. Will be happily come up again but remember to book this time. Thank you for the staff too. Lovely place to eat.Service: 5/5
Stayed for work. Don't normally select a pub with accommodation but this is more of a restuarant with accommodation and a small bar. Was very pleased with the room, all clean, very comfortable and seemed relatively recently refurbished. Bed was lovely too. Had a drink in the bar and breakfast only which was great and cooked to order using local produce. View from restuarant is fantastic and I'd definitely try dinner here next time. Staff are wonderful too. First time in a long while everything was so good when staying away. Only minor criticism is that from the rear rooms of the hotel you do hear the ventilation from the restuarant or air con but that seemed to only run during operational hours. Maybe better windows at back may help?
I’m amazed there are so many positive reviews! The young lady seemed far more interested in discussing the weekends bedroom antics with another staff member than providing even some basic pleasantries to us. Getting so much as a grunt and an acknowledgement would have been an improvement on the woefully inadequate level of customer service provided here. Vetting staff members to make sure they have basic communication skills might be pertinent as opposed to dredging the bottom of the ignorant barrel in order to put another clearly incapable staff member behind the bar. With so many excellent establishments in Truro, I fail to see why anyone would frequent the county arms.
Hadn't eaten here in a while, so was nice to return. Again the food was amazing and the staff were brilliant. I will definately be returning again!
Really nice place, stayed here about a year ago with my kids and it's really nice place, very clean and helpful staff! Also had a carvery here recently which was really nice, and again the staff are all really nice and helpful, will be backRooms: 5/5
