We booked the Stuart Suite for Valentine’s night. The room itself was stunning with great facilities. The cleanliness wasn’t quite up to scratch considering the price per night. Dusty surfaces, ornaments, water marks on bathroom chrome fittings, grubby floors in the corners of the room. They maybe just need to do a bit of extra training to the housekeeping or allocate longer changeover time in this room. However the linen & towels were crisp and clean. Overall cleanliness was a 4/5. Nonetheless the minor faults didn’t ruin the night as the room was stunning and very comfortable, spaciously divided over two levels, beautifully decorated, comfortable bed, peaceful sleep considering the hotel is on a busy road, loads of channels & TV apps, well stocked mini bar. We had lunch in the restaurant pre-check in. Food was great and reasonably priced. We then decided to have room service which again was faultless. Breakfast was really good too. Lots of options and the server was happy to get anything we wanted from the kitchen that wasn’t available at the buffet. When asked in the morning how our night was I expressed my disappointment about the cleanliness but also expressed that it wasn’t the end of the world. They receptionist was very apologetic and politely removed the room service charge as a gesture of goodwill. We would have been happy to pay but appreciated the gesture. I would recommend the hotel to friends and family as the staff and facilities do merit 5* overall
My husband and I had afternoon tea at the Torrance Hotel today. It was delicious. A very good selection of sandwiches. Sausage rolls and mini quiche were yummy. There was also a great selection of cakes including some of my favourites carrot cake and macaroons. The service was very good too. Looks like a new venue for us for lunch in the future. Well done.
Just spent two fantastic days at the Torrance Hotel, celebrating my Son’s Wedding, everything was amazing the venue and attention to detail was spot on, the staff throughout the hotel were all just lovey and very attentive, nothing was too much trouble, the meal at the Wedding reception was delicious as was the food we had in the restaurant, I have had many messages from friends & family saying what a fantastic day they all had, all complementing on the meal and the hotel in general. I would highly recommend this hotel as a Wedding Venue, or even for a visit to the restaurant, you won’t be disappointed.
I was at my son and daughter in law wedding yesterday 10th March. The staff are amazing and the food was beautiful. Had an amazing day. I'm a wheelchair user. My son and daughter in law done everything possible to accommodate my needs. The Torrance says that it's wheelchair accessible. That's not true. It was a total nightmare and caused me a lot of stress. If my sister and nephew were not staying in the room with me. I would have been severely restricted. The glass doors at the main entrance are very heavy. I needed help opening the doors. Then again the doors to get to the reception. These doors should have an electronic device to open the doors for a lone person wheelchair user. I was advised that my room was wheelchair accessible. I needed someone to open and hold the doors open to fit into a tight space. I had to take my leg rests off to get in and out of the room. Yes you have a lift. Again not disabled friendly. When I was in the lift on my own. I had to stear my wheelchair backwards just to open the door. Again another tight squeeze to get out of the lift. I constantly needed help with doors etc. It wasn't worth the money for what I paid for and caused me nothing but stress and a lot of pain and my wheelchair took a battering. I can't fault the staff. This hotel shouldn't be classed as disabled friendly. They need to sort these serious issues out. To me it was false advertisement to disabled people. My son and daughter done everything they thought possible to accommodate my needs. I can't fault the staff for anything. I raised my concerns with staff. It is a beautiful hotel if your not in a wheelchair. If your disabled and planning on staying there. I wouldn't recommend it. Safety: Not suitable for wheelchair users.
Nice hotel, needs a bit of a refresh in areas, eg door to room bar/fridge was only on one hinge, room lighting was quite dim...probably romantic if you were there with a partner but on your own on business it was too dim even with every light on in the room. Tv signal was woeful, made it unwatchable, and WiFi clearly didn't reach to my room as it was non existent. Breakfast was fantastic, tasty, plentiful, great choice. Ive marked them down on service as the few times I went past reception during my stay there was usually no one on it. Waited 10 minutes on checkout morning for someone to check me out and provide a receipt. That was after pressing the "press this bell to call staff if nobody is on the desk".... over all a decent independent hotel but sort your WiFi out and your TV aerial!
We recently had our Wedding at the Torrance Hotel and it was perfect from start to finish. All the staff were amazing and went above and beyond to make our day so special. Eilidh was amazing in helping us get prepared for our wedding day, constantly communicating with us back and forward, always so happy to see and speak to us, so warm and friendly. Nicole and Calum were with us throughout the day sorting absolutely everything and keeping us relaxed, couldnt of asked for more from them. And Dominic our toastmaster was brilliant, everyone loved him. He was so fun and bubbly! The bar staff at our meal and evening reception were so lovely and friendly. Our DJ Tommy was great and had everyone up dancing all night. He played all the songs we requested! Even the reception staff and nightporters who were there in the mornings were brilliant. The venue is beautiful as were all the guests rooms and the honeymoon suite was absolutely stunning. I couldnt recommend having a wedding here enough with Team Torrance it was a dream. We are so sad that its all over but the memories we have will be with us forever and we have already booked to come back for my birthday weekend! Thank you all for everything. Lauren & Gavin xx
Nice place, lovely food, serving times were very slow. When the booking for a table of 10 was made we weren't prewarmed that the hotel was cashless and that they only accepted card. Seating arrangements were cramped.
Popped in for a couple of drinks and something to eat after a walk ,nice buzz as you walk in clean, warm ,friendly quick staff ,good quality food ,got busier as we sat ,very pleasant...Service: 5/5
The Torrance hosted my wedding and from the moment we first spoke to arrange it, from walking out the door a married woman, the staff treated us like royalty. They were so very cheerful and accommodating and on the big day, they went above and beyond to ensure we and all our guests had the most wonderful time. Toastmaster Dominic in particular is an utter darling, and must have worn himself out all day for our sake, but he did it all with a smile and I hope he realises just how much he, and the efforts of all the staff were appreciated!
Good atmosphere and great service. Food was good. The steak and ale pie was excellent although I thought that the pastry was a little on the light and flaky side. The steak content was excellent, a good balance between meat and gravy. I had this with chips although my personal taste would be for straight or steak cut rather than skinny fries.
