Story

Welcome to the Sun Hotel Coniston, Donald Campbell’s favourite Hotel! (As seen the Anthony Hopkins film ‘Across the Lake”!)

With a friendly atmosphere, everyone is welcome to join us here at the Sun Inn, with warm open fires and traditional cask ale, we are a shelter from the often-rainy weather here in the lakes. When the sun does shine however, we have a large play area for children, so parents can relax and really enjoy the peace and quiet of the village.

Located up a short hill from the bridge in the village, we have the only beer garden in Coniston. With outstanding views across the fells and Coniston Valley, sit back and relax as you enjoy our wide range of soft drinks, flavoured teas, Gin or Real Ale. Raining? No problem, enjoy the views from our large conservatory.

Going up the Old Man? We are the last stop before the top and the first on the way back down, so don’t forget to pop in! Fluffy friends are always welcome – with well-behaved owners!

Food is served throughout the day with:
Breakfast: 8:30am – 9:30am
Lunch: 12:30pm – 3pm
Dinner: 5:30pm – 8:30pm

We can get busy so if you are a large group we advise you give us a call and pre-book to reserve your place!

Bar opens Daily from 11am, but if you just fancy a hot cup of tea or coffee just pop in our door is open from 8am we hope to see you soon!
