First time visit to this Pub. We found the inside pleasant and a good selection of beers and wines. However we were served by a young lady, who we found unwelcoming and very abrupt! There was no smile or polite conversation and at times, rather rude! We decided to order fish and chips and sadly this was about as sad as the bar staff! The fish was extremely watery and could be spread like butter! We did mention this to a member of staff, who said ,it depends on who's cooking in the kitchen! Clearly we visited on the wrong evening! I later ordered cheese cake and wished I hadn't. I have no idea, what was served to me but it wasn't pleasant! I have read many of the owner responses, to criticism of his establishment. So before you decide to attack another customer! Please veiw my review as constructive and not as another moaning keyboard warrior, as you called one customer in response!
If you're disabled don't expect to find an easy parking area, we have a van and we're told to move twice! I walk with a stick but a very Grumpy old female just said be aware of the steep steps not pointing out they have a disabled toilet! Service with a smile I don't think so! Service with a frown! By the man who asked us to move our van and the older female, Thankfully the 2 younger females behind the bar were more pleasant, the food was lovely even if they didn't offer a gravy boat with the pie, We didn't bother with desserts as felt we'd get elsewhere. After a lovely weekend at a local festival we thought we'd treat ourselves but trust me next year after the festival we'll go elsewhere
What an absolute gem.Not been to the Stag for quite a few years.Went there for my 70th birthday the staff were welcoming and friendly. The service and the food were excellent would recommend to anyone .5 stars for the stag see you soon Thank you
Lovely old pub, staff very friendly and helpful. Room was small but had everything we needed, very clean, nicely decorated and with a good powerful shower. A good varied menu, food was plentiful and well presented, the pub was really busy with very friendly locals. Breakfast was great.Rooms: 5/5
Food excellent Employee attitude excellent Disabled attitude poor Landlord - O.M.G. Be aware front parking is reserved for Audis and other cars worth at least £30K. If you park anything else in sight of the road then the landlord will come out and demand you move it out of sight. If you are disabled and try to park your mobility van near the entrance he will come out a SECOND time to tell you to move it AGAIN. Note it is not because of size as our Vito is a SWB and fits inside a normal car park space. Oh and once inside the Landlady will happily watch you struggle down steep steps to the Ladies WC rather than tell you where the disabled one is. Note we chose here because it advertised disabled access. The food is excellent - well the main course is as we were so unwelcome we paid quickly for the food so we could go quickly. If it wasn't for the case of having to find somewhere to eat off the A14 we would have just walked out. But disabled people have to put up and "make do" often even in this "enlightened" age. This would be a really nice place if it was run by the employees themselves and no it wasn't busy; we were actually there at opening time :- Walkability: There is disabled access but you have to find it yourself
Lovely cosy family pub. Very friendly people, Rob the owner made you feel very comfortable with nothing too much trouble. Small basic rooms, tasty breakfast and meals if you choose to eat there.
Booked a table for 2 on the recommendation of family who've eaten at The Stag. Food excellent, freshly cooked to perfection. Friendly welcome and attentive staff throughout. Definitely going back.
A very pleasant meal with friends and family. Very nice staff Food & drinks: The food was very pleasant
