Had a meal yesterday evening. I can't praise the quality of the food highly enough. Good sized portions. Very tasty, cooked and presented to a very high standard. Very reasonably priced. We both agreed best meals out that we have had. Looking forward to a return experience. Fabulous pub, friendly competent staff, lovely relaxed surroundings. Lagers cold and refreshing.
A lovely pub with a fantastic garden. Sunny spots, shaded spots, undercover spots, a very pleasant area to sit and enjoy a beer. Real ales are kept very well, today I had Pedigree it was perfect. Staff are very welcoming, customers very friendly. Dogs allowed inside or outside. Clean toilets, clean well decorated pub. Well worth a visit, highly recommended.
Visited a few days ago. It was our first visit. Impressed! Excellent service, friendly and helpful staff, delicious food, great venue. Everything was very good. My wife and I will return soon. I recommend this pub for a drink or meal.
Lovely atmosphere. Great food and friendly, efficient service. I had 2 glasses of Merlot and they were deliciously good quality. Thank you to the chef, waitresses and bar staff. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone and would definitely return.
Was at the Wharf for a wake, a lot of the funeral goers were there making it a busy time for the pub but the staff handled it no problem. Buffet food was very nice and plentiful. Great selection of real ales and gins too. Location is nice and I'm sure we will return when the weather is better to sit outside near the canal.Rooms: 4/5
We had lunch at the Wharf Inn today , it basic but great value for money, the food and the service were both excellent. We are looking forward to our next visit which will be very soon hopefully. Thanks too the staff and chef for a very enjoyable visit.Service: 5/5
This was our first visit to The Wharf Inn, on a grey and rainy Wednesday lunchtime between Christmas and New Year. But inside the pub was warm, the welcome was warm, the Christmas decorations were subtle but pretty and the food was fantastic. Between us we had the soup, ham egg and chips, chicken chasseur and braised lamb. The ham was two huge thick slices with rustic skin-on chips. The soup looked homemade tomato, the chicken chasseur had a really delicious sauce and the lamb just fell off the bone. If you fancy dessert, I can recommend the millionaire sundae
Ah, the Wharf Inn, just a short cruise and 1 lock up from the Leicester line of the Grand Union. Have never been disappointed here, except when not being able to moor up, and today was another fantastic dinner out. We booked a table in advance knowing it was Easter and sunny as the website still shows shortened food hours, however, it now does food all day 12-8 on Saturdays. When we arrived, we were warned that the food may take 1/2 hour, not to worry, we weren't in a hurry. It actually came much quicker than that A very good choice of real ales on offer, most from local breweries along with the obligatory Marstons Pedigree. The two different ones I tried were very well kept. There were a few local ciders too, and a very good selection of other drinks for all types. We ordered the beer battered brie with red currant jelly and the peppercorn mushrooms on black pudding for starters. The homemade large brie parcels were superb, the batter lovely crisp and flaky, with the brie just melting inside, the jelly was the perfect accompaniment. My peppercorn sauce with mushrooms was lovely, the peppercorns quite fresh, flavoursome and moist. The black pudding base gave the dish a different twist. The dinners arrived, wow, the sauce for the pea and prawn risotto was exquisite, creamy, without cloying the rice, lots of prawns and lovely sweet peas. Topped with pan fried sea bass and rainbow trout fillets, cooked to perfection. A brilliant dish from the specials board. My rack of ribs with cajun chicken, home made chips and coleslaw was a mountain of food I managed to conquer, and it really was good with the sweet maple barbeque sauce on the ribs to die for. Service was very polite and cheerful, both behind the bar and the waitresses, they all seemed to be enjoying working at the Wharf. All in all, a very good meal out, at a very reasonable price, especially so given the quality. Nearby activities: The canal terminus is about 40 yards from the pub and beer garden. There is 48 hour mooring for about 10 visiting boats, with some 14 day moorings a bit further away. Walkability: There are lots of good walks locally, both along the canal, the Jurassic trail, and round the Welford and Sulby reservoirs. Food & drinks: There is an annual beer festival, usually in June, which I happened on a few years ago by accident, great weekend. Noteworthy details: Historic canal wharf pub built in 1805, before the canal arrived in 1815. Restored lime kilns are opposite to the pub.
I live on a narrowboat it's like my local I take friends and family there for meals and the staff are very capable and efficient iff it's busy. They worked very hard to keep it going during lockdown and provided take out lunchtime meals and drinks we were and still are always welcomeRooms: 5/5
Had a very nice battered halloumi burger and a pint of Ten Fifty on a Sunday. The pub was very busy, it being lunch time, but they found space for me and my dog in the canal room. Staff were very friendly and helpful and food arrived in good time. I recommend The Wharf. Nearby activities: The canal is right next to the pub for a nice walk. Walkability: You can walk to The Wharf from the canal.
