We arrived quite late for Cornwall but they still served food at 830pm Lovely staff and a very nice pub. We had a starter portion of mussels and a main portion of mussels and some bacon and jalapeños loaded fries. By far the best mussels I’ve ever had, the sauce was sublime and the mussels were plentiful. Highly recommend. A lovely old pub.
Such a lovely friendly atmosphere! we had several lovely meals during our stay at St Mabyn. The food was delicious especially the Sunday Carvery! The staff & locals were all so hospitable. Would definitely recommend & hope to visit again really soon.
We have lived in the nearby area for the last 4 years and not having gone to this pub we decided to go for Sunday lunch called and booked first. It was very busy but managed to squeeze my way to the bar and enjoyed a nice pint of Doombar. Whilst waiting to be called up to the carvery I got myself another beer firebrand . I changed from doom to this one as I had tried it 2 days ago in a different pub not 4 miles away. To be honest a little disappointed having to pay £1.00 more for the same beer £4.90 Trivial I know but the Firebrand only comes from Launceston. Gripe over, Going back to the pub the staff were lovely and the food was fab,and the toilets where spotless..... I'll just stick to the Doombar as I will go back
Great & charming pub. We were staying nearby with a friend for a week and visited on our first evening in Cornwall. Glad we got a table without booking as lots of people started coming in soon after us! Great food and friendly service. Thank you!

I love this pub, great atmosphere, staff are attentive and it's good pub grub. The beast of Bodmin burger, the gammon and the steak I can highly recommend.
This pub is a real gem with a warm, friendly atmosphere. A beautiful setting in this village and the food is divine. Excellent lunch choices without being overwhelmed by a fussy selection. Locally sourced ingredients. Popular with locals and a truly lovely landlady who made us so welcome. Dogs welcome too with water bowls available. Attractive outdoor seating areas too, with or without shade and a games room with darts and a pool table. Reasonably priced, eg. Beast burger £9.95. Homemade fruit Berry crumble & clotted cream £5.95, well worth it. You won't be disappointed.
A proper pub! Down on holiday with the family. Everywhere closed or fully booked because of covid. We booked this place in the afternoon for this evening. Several reviews on here said it was a little "tired" inside... IT'S A PROPER PUB for the love of God... I loved the place as soon as I walked inside. I am leaving this review after my starter of mussels which were brilliant and the calamari was also great. This really is a cracking little pub.
Visited on evening of 12th October 2021. I had phoned and booked for 6pm. The exterior of the pub was a bit tatty but it was clean and a typical old style Cornish pub inside. When I phoned I had explained and requested a table with cushioned seat and solid back to the chair due to having a bad lower back. On being shown to our reserved table it was the table that was the problem! It was beside a main walkway and was a low narrow converted sewing machine table. On us requesting to be moved the friendly lady waiter promptly offered to open up and give us a table in the then closed dinning room. The table and seating there was standard and chairs comfy enough. One other couple also came into this dinning room to eat soon after us. The meals were served hot, well presented and portions a good size. The day's special pie was chicken, leek and mushroom which was tasty. We pointed out that in it it was mainly mushroom with chicken and I found only one small bit of leek! Sides of vegetables and chips were fine. Husband's beast burger was ok but the bun was a hard crusty seeded roll. He left it as it was near impossible cut and to eat. No my husband doesn't have false teeth. No puddings had. The meal value for money? Maybe we would visit again St Maybn Inn but the service was a bit off and slow. Waiter said it was due to staff shortages. We have found it is like this with many restaurants and pubs throughout the UK due to the pandemic and it's knock on effects. As an aside there is the intresting old St Maybn church right next door to the pub. Parts of the church date back to Norman times. Worth a look around but mind the uneven steps leading up to it from the pub side.
On the last night of our holiday we popped along to The St Mabyn Inn for dinner. The food was excellent, and Lisa's customer service really made our last night special, particularly as she managed to secure for me the last 'Pie of the Day' delicious chicken, bacon, leek and mushroom in a crisp pastry crust. Highly recommend for brilliant food, reasonably priced, served with a smile in a cosy environment.
