I had a lovely stay here with my girlfriend. The hotel is affordable, charming, and well situated in central Brighton with gorgeous sea views . The staff are very friendly and helpful and the hotel's bar is quite wonderful. Our room was quiet, comfortable, and clean. Thanks you guys for making our short getaway so enjoyable!

A good place with friendly staff. Laid back atmosphere and good old English feel. Nice location on the seafront and lots of places to explore and all walking distance from the hotel.

I stayed at the Old Ship Hotel for one night, in a twin non-sea-view room. The hotel is positioned prominently on the seafront, but the parking arrangements are not immediately obvious. This involves driving partway down a side street, into the side of the building, where you will be meet the car park operator. This semi-enclosed space is extremely dingy and is certainly not a grand entrance to the hotel, but the operators are friendly and efficient. The car park is securely locked at night. A series of corridors give access to the lobby, from the car park. The strangeness of this corridor was impossible to ignore for me - it seemed to slope and twist about on ramps, creating a fascinating distorted effect. Use of patterned wallpapers here only seem to exaggerate the effect. All of this is probably due to the age of the building. This also goes for the route taken to the lobby toilets, which is truly ridiculous in its complexity. Anyway, the rest of the hotel is more orderly and of a good standard, based on my personal experience. The lobby is quite classy, and the rooms are clean and well-decorated. I was positively surprised to be provided with a partial sea-view, despite my booking specification; a section of beach and the Palace Pier could be seen from my window. The beds were quite comfortable and without dirt, and the en-suite bathroom was well-equipped and clean. If you like technology, then there is free WIFI and Freeview television for you to use. There appears to be a very erratic game of chance in what view will be presented at your window. I was quite lucky with the partial sea-view, but some other people, including my parents in another room, had a view of a flat roof with air conditioning units. The view quality varies throughout the hotel, so book a sea view room, if you care about the view and do not want to risk disappointment. If anyone is interested in old elevators (not myself necessarily), then you will enjoy the c.1950s Otis elevators, which scarcely hold more than four people. Overall, I had a very good experience at this hotel, and the building's eccentricities brought great amusement.

We had a pleasant stay at the Old Ship Hotel. Located on the sea front and at a decent walkable distance to the lanes, pier, shopping area and nightlife. On the flip side, we were disappointed with the mattress of our bed which clearly needs to be changed. Also what looked at first like a neat tray with kettle, coffee and tea turned out to be a strategic cover up for a ridiculously small lead the length of one's hand: we had to balance the kettle on an upside down bin to enjoy a coffee!

Had a great stay at The Old Ship Hotel. We stayed for 2 nights with breakfast included. The rooms were lovely - the bed was comfy, as was the seating, and the decor was great There was a good selection of food at breakfast, and there was a milk alternative option plus the offer of vegetarian sausages. The staff were friendly and helpful. The lift was a bit old along with the corridors, but the rest of the hotel was great!
