Lovely old lady. What a treat, room booked for me by my family for my birthday. The hotel is old but quirky and fun, it’s not 5 star, if you need that go somewhere else but if you want a comfy room, that’s super clean with lovely staff and good food then the Royal Albion is for you. Really enjoyed my stay, felt at home and that’s so important, well priced and dog friendly too. Highly recommended. Thank you Royal Albion. Lisa.
Booked a double room for £42 per night, was good value. It's definitely not luxury and breakfast isn't included in the price but the hotel is practically on the seafront and 5 minutes from the centre of town. Wouldn't recommend it for a romantic getaway but it's a great place to stay if you're in Brighton for a few days for an event or wanting to go clubbing.
The room was dirty. There was brown hair shavings on the bathroom wall when we arrived my partner has a very blonde beard, there was short curly hair on the door in the bathroom. There was also a lot of water damage/mold in the room. The walls were also dirty with stains. In the corridor, pieces of the ceiling was falling off and it was leaking when it was raining in the lounge. The bed was not a double bed, we have a 140 bed at home and this was smaller, it was tight to be two adults sleeping in it. The mattress was also awful, we could feel every spring which made it extremely uncomfortable. The heating in the room couldn't be turned down, the room was extremely warm, we tried turning all of the heating off in the room but the radiator stayed hot and the windows wouldn't open. The hotel needs to be renovated as it's falling apart. When leaving, we weren't asked how our stay was. Some receptionist weren't welcoming at all. Apart from that the ladies and gentleman working at the bar were very kind and also at the breakfast.
We are staying here currently and we were a bit worried beforehand after reading all the bad reviews but honestly I believe people’s expectations are way too high. You really are paying for what you get, so if you would like a 5 star hotel then that is what you should go pay for. The rooms, while yes, dated, do what they are intended for. The hotel is located right by the beach so there is lots to do and you only really need to sleep here so the hotel is perfect for that, especially at the cheap prices it has. The shower in our room had the best water pressure I have ever felt and the beds are comfy. The rooms are very clean also. The staff are lovely and very helpful, so thank you for that. And again, to reiterate, the reviews here appear to be left by people who have high expectations for an affordable hotel. We would definitely stay here again!
Room not fit for habitation. Wallpaper peeling off/window nailed shut: and glass covered/bathroom rusty with black mould. Access to room was hazardous with broken threadbare coveting on stairs and damaged banisters which had makeshift repairs with just odd pieces of plain unpainted wood. Could not believe such rooms existed let alone be rented out. Several members of cleaning staff appeared to have Lon knowledge that these rooms existed!!! I also understand many rooms in basement have no windows or daylight!! I am absolutely amazed that these rooms have passed any travel inspections for health and safety.
First of all, let me emphasize that the receptionist who helped us at the time provided us with very good service. Very friendly, helpful, ... She deserves 5 stars! However, the hotel itself is not recommended. It's very outdated and the room was anything but nice to stay in. The toilet would not flush, the sink would not run, the TV did not work and stayed on with an irritating white spot so the room was never completely dark at night. In addition, the room did not smell fresh and there was no way to ventilate because the windows were completely closed. Breakfast was also not recommended: the croissants might had been there for several days and were very hard. The juices were more diluted water than anything else. Unfortunate experience. In any case, we will not return to this hotel.
Room is poorly maintained but excluding hostels is pretty much the cheapest you will get in Brighton. Staff pretty good, I imagine front of house get a regular verbal kicking owing to room quality, obviously this isn't down to them, but is a Britannia thing wherever you stay. Worth considering for a Saturday. Weekdays, stay elsewhere as cost of other places will reduce.
Booked a single room with breakfast for £91. Staff polite. Would seem to be as clean as it could be. Black mould in shower. Furniture surfaces stained and missing veneer. Room in poor state of repair. Breakfast ok. I would value my stay at £40 all in.Rooms: 1/5
Beautiful hotel and great stay for price. however in need dire of repair and full time cleaning staff. Booked room was dirty, dusty marks on bed sheets and the toilet We were given an upgrade which was better however the bathroom fan was dusty.
Location - amazing. Staff - great. Rooms - brilliant. Cost - superb. If you like an adventure, take the stairs & go through the maze to find your room. Brilliant. : Rooms: Spacious & very clean. Has a TV. Soap. Tea & coffee. With a mini kettle. What more could you ask for. Nearby activities: The beach & the pier. Walkability: To anywhere where you need in Brighton. 15mins from station. 60deconds from the beach. Food & drinks: They do food and drink. I only had a quick drink.
