The hostel is in a fantastic location near the pier and is the sort of basic but clean facilities you'd expect from a YHA. We even had a sea view! However, the hostel does lose a star for the lack of kitchen facilities - eating out all the time is how a backpacker ends up blowing their budget. The website suggests this is temporary, but the reviews suggest it's been closed for years. The cynic in me thinks it closed during covid and they've since been enjoying additional profits in their cafe - somewhat confirmed by reception who informed us we weren't even allowed to drink in our private room because there's a bar downstairs...! The mattress was rather firm for our tastes too.
Nice large, modern family rooms, no issues. Some noise from the 'chalk' nightclub if you're on that side but really it only woke me once when they emptied the bottles into the bins. The location and size of the family rooms really make up for any shortcomings, not that there are many. We didn't even miss the lack of a room kettle as the bar served a decent coffee, hot and inexpensive. To be honest I don't want anyone else to know about this place as it'll make it difficult for me to book in the future.
We've had an amazing experience here. The location is beautiful, close to beach, pier, and centre. We got a room with seaside view. The room was quite spacious and tidy with a TV which was another plus. The bathroom exceeded my expectation, very clean and good looking. The staff were super nice and friendly, helpful. Let us check out later than usual for extra fee. They also have a bar downstairs. The coffee was really nice. Altogether, a good experience and I'd recommend if you're looking for a cheaper accommodation and central location.
The Brighton beach is two to three minutes away, and the National Coach drop-off is two minutes' walk away. We stayed in a double room with an ensuite and a view of the beach. There was electric heater in the room, and the rooms were kept up nicely and clean. The personnel is incredibly amiable. They even recommended a few places for us to see while we were there. Since the room had been cleaned and was ready, we were permitted to check in early. We also enjoyed the tasty nachos and french fries. We decided to extend our stay as well, and it was simple to do so at the desk rather than by filling out an online form. YHA is affordable and ideal for lodging. Our stay was very enjoyable.
Excellent for what it is! I've stayed here a number of times and it is always an excellent offering for its class of accomdation. Prices are great, rooms and public areas are clean & room features are basic yet functionable. The venue is secure and the staff are always welcoming, friendly and helpful. City centre location so excellent access to everything, however this is a historic building so expect some noise from outside and other rooms. Safety: This is a historic building, so beware of there being some uneven floors, steps and trip hazards. These could be more clearly marked.
Fantastic service, great amenities and staff are super helpful and excellent facilities. The manager Omar was highly professional and sorted out any queries I had. Brilliant accommodation and staff- thanks!Rooms: 5/5
Blood stained curtains, £2.50 towels & 0 facilties : No response or apology from yha Brighton despite responding to other reviews Understand it's a hostel, but booked a private room so would atleast expect towels £2.50 each to borrow to be free, never had to pay for them anywhere I stayed before. No basics such as shampoo, soap, kettle/drink facilities hairdryer ect. Really is the bare minimum you get. For a. 4 star accommodation it doesn't add up.... Inside Curtains could easily be cleaned but covered in blood or something aswell. Disgusting!! Bit more effort to clean wouldn't have gone a miss The good: Weird that they have a wonderful done up bathroom but still charge for towels. Room was spacious & perfect location decent view atleast.
Great value for the money. Staff were efficient at check-in/out. The room was massive and very clean with a beautiful soaker bathtub. No amenities were offered in the room coffee, towels glasses. However, the staff let me know that upon checkin, and for the price, I was not concerned. The room was a bit on the cold side, but nothing that detracted from the stay. The beach is a quick 3ish minute walk away. Lots of shops, pubs, casino etc close by as well. Overall, I definitely recommend this place for budget travelers!
I want to emphasize the importance of carefully reading the terms and conditions before making decisions like canceling a reservation. Despite being informed of the possibility of a full refund upon cancellation, I faced disappointment when the refund did not materialize, contrary to what was stated in their sales conditions. It's unfortunate that the clause specifying no refunds after noon was not clearly mentioned during the cancellation process. While I understand it is in the general terms, it should be prominently displayed during cancellation to avoid confusion. Having contacted customer service in the hope of finding a compromise, I am disappointed that they remained unresponsive. Improved communication and understanding of individual circumstances could enhance the customer experience. As a customer, I would appreciate clear communication during cancellation to prevent future misunderstandings.
Amazing location by the beach, but there might be such a thing as TOO central! It was fine on Tuesday and Wednesday night, but Thursday night the massive crowd outside made it sound like there was a party actually inside our room! Ear plugs all round and it meant we had to close the window so it got very hot. However, it is an amazing place to stay and when the extensive building work outside is complete, it will be even nicer. We loved having a view of the pier from our room and the age of the old hotel.
