What a wonderful stay at the Glenburnie House! Graeme was a delight and gave us the warmest welcome, which meant so much after a VERY long day of travel. The room was perfect, spacious and lovely decorated with the most amazing view. We also appreciated the little things--coffee and tea with the most delicious marshmallow treats in our room with extra supplies in the hall--essential for this sugar abuser, a basket of fruit at the entryway refilled regularly, and a refrigerator waiting with a lil jug of milk. I would highly recommend the Glenburnie House and hope we can return in the future.
The only thing that is disappointing is I can only leave a 5 star review! Since the moment I arrived I was absolutely blown away! Graeme and Dan were very warm and welcoming, their house is just devine with some absolutely breathtaking views, the room was so cozy and I almost wish I could sneak the bed out the house and take it back to mine! Will absolutely be back again
It was an honor to be able to stay here. The hospitality was incredible and the room was lovely. I was so happy to be able to stay for two nights and enjoy the area. Each night I made sure to sit and watch the sunset over the harbor. There was a nice walk nearby past Fingal’s dog stone. I actually appreciated that breakfast was not offered because it allowed me to head out for nearby activities. If wanted, there is a nice breakfast café five minutes up the road with a beautiful view over a small harbor.
Had we known what a lovely place this was, we would have stayed longer. The Inn exudes character with comfort. Fluffy towels, tea and coffee and fresh milk in room to sit and relax with a book. Phenomenal views to watch the harbor boat traffic. Perfect location to stroll into town, some excellent restaurants. Quick access to ferry if you're planning on taking the Rick Steves recommended Mull/Staffa/Iona sojourn they serve breakfast on ferry. Other reviews have raved about the excellent Glenburnie House breakfasts, which they no longer do good breakfast options a couple of blocks away. Given the extraordinary house, the location and most especially the hospitality and competence of the hosts Graeme and Dan? it still amply earns five stars. We hope to return to Oban and would stay here again with no hesitation.
My mom and I were in Scotland for a little over a week and this was our absolute favorite accommodation even better than our castle stay. The room was immaculate and the owners were fantastic. Our room overlooked the water and it was gorgeous. Super close to the restaurants and shops so it’s an easy walk. My mom and I didn’t want to leave. We started planning our return trip before we even checked out and when we come back, we will be staying here again.
We were so glad that we booked Glenburnie House for our 2 night stay in Oban during our honeymoon tour of Scotland. We booked a room with a sea view so we could fully enjoy the fantastic location of the guest house right on the front, watching the ferries going by and admiring the islands and mountains surrounding the town. Graeme gave us a warm welcome the minute we arrived and was always around if we needed anything, even texting us his phone number in case we needed anything out of hours, nothing was too much trouble, he even found beach towels for us so we could enjoy the sun which came out while we were visiting. The room was beautiful, very comfortable and spacious and gorgeously decorated, and sparkling clean, in fact the bathroom literally sparkled. It felt like a real treat. And the house itself was a beautiful historic building, it was a joy to stay here. There is no breakfast provided but this wasn't a problem at all, there was a microwave and fridge so we could store and heat up anything we needed. Plenty of tea coffee and milk was available, even a pint of milk in the fridge on arrival. We would thoroughly recommend Glenburnie House if you are staying in Oban.
Graham the host was very friendly and made us feel very welcomed. Didn't get a chance to meet Dan Graham called him that as he was Cinderella the 2 days we stayed Can't fault this place and worth more than 5 The daily fruit laid out for you was a lovely touch. Loved our room with Seaview. And the walk along the beach everyday was just perfect. Will definitely return. Thanks Graham for your hospitality!!
We LOVED our stay here. The owners were very friendly, attentive, and had great recommendations for the area. The rooms were lovely, and the overall decor and feel of the house really made our stay all the more spectacular. If we ever pass through Oban again, we will be staying here again. I will miss the owners, they’re really great and add to the charm of the place.
Genuinely cannot recommend this hotel enough. Just stop reading this review and book yourself a room there immediately. The hosts, Graham and Dan were very welcoming and nothing was a trouble to them and the room we stayed in was very well equipped with everything you could want for a short or long stay. We'll definitely be back.Rooms: 5/5
