Being a Vintage Inn the food is always pretty decent and you get what you pay for. It's simple pub grub. On this visit to The Firecrest though, the service was diabolical! Staff were rude and abrasive when asked for the simplest of things and were really unapproachable. The guy that works in there was our "zone host" last time and it was dead then, so he gave a great service. This time all except our zone was empty, with all other zone waiter/waitresses standing around chatting And trying to look busy. Our host was trying her hardest to keep up but didn't have a chance really and bot one of her colleagues offered any help. We settled the bill and promptly left feeling disappointed by the whole experience. However I did leave a token tip for our host as she probably needed a drink after that shift. The pub itself isn't that clean either! M&B sort this establishment out!

Fantastic Sunday lunch. Vest I've had in a while. Lovely atmosphere inside with quick, efficient service. Nice ales on tap and delicious desserts. Free parking too.

Food was good, although a long wait and young man serving us was very good. Not happy about how another member of staff spoke to my elderly father in law, when he asked a perfectly polite question. Incredibly rude and abrupt! 😡

Booked a table for 4 and asked for a window as my 92 year old Nanny needs more day light. We were placed at a table ( for 6 people) near a window but too dark. We asked to be moved to an empty table of 4 near to a window, but were told this was not possible because that table was needed at that moment so staid there. Minutes later the people that booked the table for 4 by the window arrived and squeezed 6 people in that table. They complained the space was too small for 6, but also were told they couldn't move. Then a table of two people next to the large group of 6 asked to be moved and complained that they didn't have space to seat comfortably. Now the restaurant had 3 unhappy tables. Ourselves, the table of 6 and the table of 2. Had they allowed us to change to the table of 4 when we asked, the group of 6 could have sat at the larger table that we had and had plenty of space, and the table of 2 would not have been squeezed of space by us. Had they used common sense everyone would have been happy. The food was good, the service from our young waitress was ok but slow, they refused to change us because the system wouldnt allowed it, preventing us from having what would of other wise been a nice meal.

Visited 28.11.17, excellent menu, good food, lovely atmosphere and fire in the pub. Clearly short staffed on day we visit3d so long wait for food, but waitress lively and did her best. Point deducted as they should have mentioned it when we arrived, especially as we were there on a weekday lunchtime and could have been in a rush to get back to work perhaps
