Rooms very cosy and clean. Simon the host is friendly and informative. Had our evening meal here as well. Not brilliant to be fair. The chicken and thyme pie was a bit dry. Not enough sauce and could hardly taste the thyme. Great selection of beers and a very quaint pub.

Good selection of ale on tap. Menu is well put together and the steak is some of the best I have had in the area, reasonable price for a big 16oz rib eye and perfectly cooked. Service was a little slow in a Saturday evening but to be expected since most tables were full.

It was very busy which would have been fine although they had run out of nearly everything on the menu. Considering we had made a reservation they could have contacted us to let us know this. This was not our first trip to this pub as it is conveniently in the middle between high Wycombe and Milton Keynes. Unfortunately this was not the first time we have had poor service either. This particular time me and my sister were recommended the steaks (one of the only things left on the menu) when they came they were very well done (we had asked for medium and medium rare) very tough and not nice at all. When explained this to the waiter he seemed very surprised but didn't offer any money off or anything. Needless to say we are now on the lookout for a new place to meet up as been failed by this pub too many times unfortunately.

A really nice country pub. Open fire, good beer, very generous portions on the food we had, all nicely cooked. Staff were friendly and helpful. Its a pub that invites you in for a drink and makes you want to stay. We will be going back!

I don’t like to moan. Sometimes it has to be done. Not going to bore with the details, other than to say that the Sunday roast was lukewarm and very poorly cooked to the point of ruination. The owner has made previous comments on here that things are improving. There was no evidence of that tonight. We won’t be returning.
