Here at The Cricketers, we are the perfect retreat to sit back, relax and indulge in our delicious food with the perfect drink in hand.Situated at the foot of Hambledon Hill, home of an Iron Age hill fort, and just off the Wessex Ridgeway footpath, a right of way passes right through our garden, making it a delightful spot for walkers to rest and enjoy some well-earned refreshments! Here at the Cricketers, we see ourselves as being a real village pub – delicious food, a great selection of drinks and the warmest of welcomes. Popped in here for work, A stunning little pub set in a small village. This pub is a hub for the locals with a lot of the villagers using it to meet and enjoy the food. The food that was coming from the kitchen looked and smelt amazing, When I was working in the kitchen you could see the chefs taking the time to make every dish look perfectly presented. my taste buds were on overdrive... so much so that I had to order chips to go... and they didn't disappoint As per usual my work took me right into the heart of the building and it was exceptionally clean and tidy throughout. All the staff were really friendly and chloe the landlady should be really proud that her pub / restaurant is so well presented in this idyllic little village. I would highly recommend if in Weymouth area.
Really friendly pub great selection of snacks at lunchtime, perfect place to stop when on route to some of the nearby historic sights, the food was so good.
Perfect place for Sunday lunch. I had cheese soufflé starter and nut roast mains and both were delicious. The cauliflower cheese which accompanied the mains was the best I’ve had for a long time, including homemade! Staff were friendly and pub itself very nice, chairs exceptionally comfortable. Definitely worth a visit.
Great food and some fine ales.Really enjoyed the London Pride. Excellent fish and chips the large was LARGE! Cheddar and stilton souffle starter was delicious as was the baked camembert to share. And the creme brulee with champagne sorbet and shortbread was delicious. We booked a table and it was very busy for a Saturday but there was room forwalk-ins. The pub is much bigger than I remember. Last time I visited was probably in the 1970's ! Staff provided a very friendly service too.
My partner took me tonight for valentines online said set special menu with prosecco for two, took ages to get a drink and menu. Then bring us a blackboard with mains on not same as online I'd been emailed then I asked for starter menu lady asked what we'd ordered explained not had menu finally get it and order then wait again for starter, twice got offered wrong food then got starters, was very nice took ages to get more drinks then finally get mains partner had wrong side and I had steak asked for medium and got rare sent back. Young girls really good service and stressed bless them but others not good and definitely not the special evening offered. Left without main course will not return. We were not only ones complaining numerous people were and not as polite as we were. Felt sorry for two girls
Popped in for lunch and was very impressed! The food was amazing, as was the service provided. We will definitely be going back!
Brilliant pub our food arrived looking fabulous the staff were so kind and friendly and couldn’t do enough, we will definitely be back thank you
Came here for dinner with family, limited menu but what we had blew our socks off, lovely people too. Try the homemade crumble it was delicious
Excellent as always. Very friendly, welcoming and attentive staff and the food is really tasty with lots to choose from on the menu. They have a great gluten free selection on starters, mains and puds. They do burger, steak and pie nights which are a must and a great selection for vegans. Overall a really enjoyable meal at a fantastic little pub, thanks for a couple of great nights.
Great pub, good prices and food was always tasty. It'll be interesting to see what the new owners do and to see if they keep it affordable as the previous owners.
