The Berkeley

About

The Berkeley is a London luxury hotel located in the heart of Knightsbridge, London

Story

Within our breathtaking collection of rooms and suites – which are amongst the most spacious in London – we have many with private garden terraces and quiet balconies. All our rooms and suites skilfully combine comfort, stylish design and the latest innovations, to meet the needs of the modern traveller. Marcus Wareing offers two Michelin-starred dining at his eponymous restaurant, Marcus, within The Berkeley; the stars come out for award-winning cocktails at the Blue Bar; and fashionistas join us for Prêt-à-Portea, our catwalk-inspired afternoon tea served in the beautiful Collins Room.

On the seventh floor of The Berkeley, our indoor/outdoor rooftop pool, secret garden and luxury Bamford Haybarn Spa provide a calm retreat with views over the London skyline.

The Berkeley is located at the edge of Hyde Park in fashionable Knightsbridge, a short walk from Harrods and Harvey Nichols. Behind the hotel sits the residential area of Belgravia: a charming enclave of Georgian terraces, cobblestone streets, independent shops and traditional pubs, which conveys the feeling of an English village.

We have been staying at the Berkeley for 25 years. It always feels like home. Fantastic rooms - always up to date. Great views. Fantastic staff. Excellent bars Rooftop pool is the best to unwind after a day of walking.Rooms: 5/5
I didn't stay here so I can't comment on the rooms but I have no doubt it is lovely. I came to eat at the bakery. My husband recommended it, he told me it was amazing, he is a foodie. So when I was planning my visit into the city I booked ahead as this is highly recommended. So my daughter and I went for a very relaxing Sunday brunch with the best pastries I have had in a long time. Fantastic staff which is always appreciated. Afterwards we walked across the road into Hyde Park, it was a lovely day out.
Incredible hotel in an ideal location. Easy access to London's key cultural locations and landmarks. Rooms are luxuriant and perfectly appointed. The team is friendly, and service is impeccable without being overbearing. The food and beverage offering is still very good, considering the main restaurant is closed for refurbishment.
My experience during checkout was extremely disappointing. As I was leaving the hotel with a small carry-on bag while my husband managed our seven pieces of luggage downstairs, I encountered an overly aggressive guest agent. Upon exiting the elevator and passing through the revolving doors, I was confronted with shouts asking if I was checking out. I responded that my husband had already taken care of it, but the agent continued to demand the room number. I reiterated that I had already checked out. I then called my husband back into the lobby, where he had been waiting for the chauffeur outside. I was taken aback by this incident; in all my years of staying at five-star hotels, I have never faced such embarrassment. I have been a regular guest at this hotel since its opening before it had a proper lobby, but this experience has led me to decide against returning. I had intended to try the Peninsula, but my husband remains loyal to this establishment. Unfortunately, I felt a sense of discrimination from the Asian check-in staff member, Amy, which was a first but being pursued in such a manner outside the premises was completely unacceptable. I am a ownee of my business . I would not tolerate this from staff. I would like to Thank the Bell Captains and Housekeeping throughout the years doing fantastic job. Was so up set didnt leave bell captains with a decent farewelll Rm 207 october 7 2024.
For anyone keen for rooftop experience, let me tell you, it's not worth it. And to be honest the whole experience was a huge let down from a hotel that is meant to be one of the best in the world. We arrived around 20 min before our booking and was told that the guests hadn't left yet, but they would leave shortly and we could get a drink in the downstairs bar emory. We went down and got seated quickly as it wasn't busy. But it took over 5 min to get our menu, 10 min to get our water and our wine never showed up despite waiting for almost 20 min after ordering. As we were now late for the dinner booking we got up and left. The staff in the bar seemed very rushed, running around, and again didn't really see the reason as they had lots of staff and only a handful of tables. We came to the rooftop around 10 past, so later than our booking and 40 min after we had initially let them know we were there. When we got there, we were told that the guests hadn't left yet. So waited another 5 min, and then to be told that the table was just going to be cleared but we could have a look at the view basically. The rooftop itself didn't have much ambience and it was quite dark and tables spread far apart with only a few guests. Lovely view of course. We had to wait for another 15 min for them to remove a few dishes from the table, and then were finally seated. Then it took probably another 10 min before we actually got a menu and of course had to wait to be able to make an order for probably at least 15 min. Food and drinks came quite quickly, but given how simple it is, I would be surprised if it didn't. I asked for a blanket upon ordering which didn't arrive over 1h later when we were almost ready to leave. The whole night was spent just waiting. It cost us 185GBP for 6 small tacos yes, the price in the menu is per taco so like a 8cm tortilla, guacamole, 3 glasses of rose and 1 margarita. I wasn't too hungry so happy with 2, but for someone who is, you'd need at least 4-5 to fill up, so that's 50-60gbp just for some tacos. Clearly felt like a huge rip off for a very average experience with long waiting times. While the staff were lovely, they are very rushed but things still took so long despite it not being busy and from a hotel like this, anyone would expect more. Parking was easy and they let us park out the front which was handy.
stayed a week and had a wonderful time, most especially thanks to nicole and alexandra. gym great, pool great. only negative: was not told about a £60 nightly resort fee so we were surprised to see that on the bill.
This hotel is still very much a work in progress. The check-in process is now next to the cafe, which makes it very noisy. We booked the “romance package“, and they forgot to include the champagne; and instead of providing the Frette bathrobes, they gave us inferior Trielle brand bathrobes. Despite multiple requests to rectify this, we have been completely ignored. The addition of the new Emory Hotel next door has created an utterly disjointed experience. You end up wandering around looking for suitable lifts to use. I think this hotel has lost that local feel that it used to have. The staff are friendly and trying their best, but this hotel still needs work to get things right.
Everything was perfect. Great room with a view of the park and amazing service during the stay. I was surrounded with attention and care on my birthday.Rooms: 5/5
Stayed here a few years ago and was treated like a criminal, beware as a foreigner with foreign cards - they might make you pee in a cup. Besides that the hotel doesn't have good views from the terrace as its blocked mostly, the rooms are smaller than average for this type of property. Afternoon tea was good but not spectacular. There are MANY better places to stay on this strip both left and right. Location is good otherwise.
Set Afternoon tea at Cedric Grolet x 2 Vanilla cake tasted and looked good The chocolate grapefruit cake looked good but too sweet for my liking as were all the other cakes . Savoury items better Over priced at almost 240.00 incl service charge which included a glass of champagne each Style over substance Found the hotel itself ugly and the art even uglier
