The Badger Inn

About

The Badger Inn is a pub and inn offering great food and accommodation located in the beautiful area of Lelant, Cornwall.

Story

A warm welcome to all visitors from Bertie and the team here at The Badger Inn. Our lovely old pub, established in 1876 as a rather grand Victorian hotel named The Lelant Hotel, is rumoured to have been visited by the famous author Virginia Woolf whilst on her many visits to this area of Cornwall.

Much of the building remains unchanged from the early days of trading although our newly refurbished conservatory is certainly a welcome addition. With six letting rooms upstairs, a lovely garden for those sunny days and a menu to suit all ages and tastes. The Badger Inn is the perfect venue to combine good food and good drinks with the friendly atmosphere of a village pub.

Known for our hospitality, good Cornish food and a customer friendly atmosphere, we serve food from 12 noon until 9pm every day. Please remember our menu is predominantly cooked to order using the best local produce, therefore we do not serve fast food but serve quality food as quickly as possible.

Don’t forget to look at the Daily Specials Board to see our Head Chef Daniel Chapman’s latest offerings.

We had a lovely lunch here. The staff were really nice and were happy to simplify some options for the kids. There were also a lot of vegetarian options.Service: 5/5
Nice garden area. Very awkward car park and registration system. Beautifully maintained front, hiding a less beautiful back of building. Very generous portions. Great quality and tasting food. Rushed feel at the buffet. Good seating, but a little dense. Good value for money. Will visit again but hopefully not by car!Rooms: 4/5
Myself and a friend had a Sunday roast here last weekend. Very disappointed. We were booked for a table a 12.30pm but we're not allowed up to the carvery till 1.30pm! The roast was mainly cold, the gravy was straight out of a bisto packet, the cauliflower cheese was barely cooked and the cheese sauce runny like water. But worst of all was the mashed suede and carrot which someone in the kitchen had decided to put cinnamon in! It was disgusting. Whoever was the chef that day needs to urgently learn to cook. I'm local and will not be going back. Ps. Also too many barking dogs in the pub Food & drinks: The roast was awful, nearly cold, gravy straight out of a packet, undercooked cauliflower with watery cheese sauce, mashed suede and carrot with cinnamon in, possibly the worst roast I've ever eaten.
It was our first visit there last night and had what was at the time a very nice meal. I was then sick for about 2 hours later at night when I went to bed. Spoken to the duty manager today who apologised but that was about it. Won't be going back which is a shame as it looks great inside. Staff were attentive and the place was quite busy. Such a shame I was so ill though.
Superb ploughman's with local cornish blue, cheddar and yarg. A true classic. Well worth a visit. Food & drinks: The best ploughman's in Cornwall probably Britain.
Fantastic food which is reasonably priced, yet decent sized portions. I've been staying near by for work and keep coming back just for the food!Rooms: 3/5
A great value pub lunch. There are a group of 6/8 of us who go for lunch in this area on Saturdays. The badger provides a diverse menu with all prices £10.95. BBQ pulled pork burger excellent, as was chilli. Large portions and efficient/friendly serviceService: 4/5
We went on a walk from Carbis Bay to porth Kidney Beach very hilly/muddy. After a long walk along the beach we started to head for Lelant train station and came across the Badger Inn! This may have been one of the groups plan all along! They weren't serving food till 5.30pm and it was 5pm but the staff were so lovely! We ordered drinks for a reasonable price and started planning our meals, 5.30pm on the dot a team member was over to take our order- fantastic service. So happy and smiley, made us feel so welcome! The portion sizes were huge, we weren't expecting them to be that big and had a starter and a side on order, and struggled to finish it all. Only slight downside was there weren't many vegetarian options. Food was value for money, not the most high end, but your classic comforting home cooked meals. There were signs all over the pub about registering your car if you were in the car park otherwise you could get fine, not relevant for us as we had walked, but helpful to know! Plus the staff asked us if we were in the car park! Noteworthy details: Car park, have seen others say about being fined. There are signs in the pub and at the bar, saying you must register your car even if only in the car park for a short while as to not be fined. Staff also checked with us when we first went in and ordered drinks!
We had a great eveymeal., lovely service , and great food , plenty of it. 4 of us went I had burger , 2 had chicken burger and one scampi, enjoyed it and came away full . Thank youService: 5/5
Be warned. My family and I stopped off at The Badger Inn last week for a evening meal. We parked in the pub car park whilst I went into see if they were doing food. I went back to the car to get my wife, son and dogs and went back to the pub. Unfortunately there was then no where to sit. Went back to the car and drove off only to get a £100.00 parking fine in the post today after 12 minutes parking. I just phoned the pub who said there is nothing they can do. Annoyed to say the least with there attitude. Its there car park after all. Would not recommend this pub to anyone with the unhelpful attitudes. Noteworthy details: Be warned about parking
