The staff are very attentive and helpful. I asked for something that was not on menu and it was delicious, thank you The art in this hotel is incredible and unique. If you are looking for a trendy modern place to stay, this is definitely not going to be your cup of tea, but if you appreciate art, you will not be disappointed. This is probably the last of true Cornish hotels the way they used to be.
Went for a lunch with a large group - over 20. The location is perfect, carparks nearby including free parking at Asda 3hrs and no need to shop. The service was excellent and food was very good. Reasonable prices and venue is full of atmosphere. Plenty of paintings and memorabilia. Definitely worth a visit - so much to see. Walkability: Plenty of shops nearby, supermarket just over road and Heritage Centre opposite. Plenty of parking around as well as good pasty shops . . .
Stayed for 2 nights, was sharing a room in the Courtyard with a friend. The bedroom was basic but the bathroom was dreadful, loo seat not on properly, dirt on shower, tiles, broken hot tap which was extremely difficult to turn off. The floor felt dirty. We complained and got refund for one night. The food was very good and plentiful the chef and the bar staff men were very friendly . Most of the staff were very nice. The lady checking us in wasn't friendly at all. She needs to learn to smile. I have never known a hotel which made you pay for your room before you got the key and saw the room. The room wasn't cleaned whilst we were there. We wouldn't stay in this hotel again.
Stayed one night, room was very clean if a tad dated. Staff were very polite and attentive. We had a fantastic full English breakfast. Excellent bacon. The pub downstairs was quite lively with a great atmosphere and friendly locals. Very reasonably priced drinks. All in all a lovely stay and would definitely recommend.Rooms: 5/5
If you want a quiet and restful stay. Do not stay here. Although it is advertised as a hotel, It isn't really a hotel, it's an Inn/pub that has lots of rooms. Unfortunately the focus of the owners is on functions and entertainment. Functions can go on up to 12 midnight. If you happen to be in any of the rooms above the function rooms, your not going to get to sleep until 1am and even if your lucky enough to be in one of the cottage rooms in the car park, you still have the noise element of the functionsand the customers leaving. The rooms are dated and basic at best, though cleaned every day. The service is on the whole okay, until you have a complaint, this establishment is not very good at taking any criticism that might mean they have to do something. customer satisfaction of those staying here is not high on the owners agenda. I paid for three nights, it was so bad I left after 2. I wish I had read all the reviews and not just the last 10 reviews. On a positive note the restaurant is worth a visit as they have a good chef, though like many places in Cornwall you have to wait a while for your food, but it is worth the wait. You don't have to stay there to use the restaurant.
Extremely welcoming staff who looked after our group of ten really well. Good food with very large portions! Pre ordering was efficient and resulted in prompt service. Parking on site was limited, but large car park opposite always had plenty of space, as long as school drop off and pick up times were avoided.Rooms: 4/5
The room we stayed in was in poor condition. Furniture was old and dated. The bathroom had mould and fixtures needed updating. The room smelled damp. There is a lot of noise from the bar until late. We stayed only one night, but we wouldn't want to stay another. The staff were friendly and the location was good. Breakfast was a cooked breakfast, but there was not much other choice The rooms and bathrooms need updating.
I can't speak to the rooms but the Sunday Roast was reasonably priced and absolutely fantastic - legitimately delicious, especially the potatoes. Oh, but avoid the orange juice under an circumstances.Service: 4/5
Great food if you're not in a rush or working to a deadline. Visited twice whilst on holiday testament to how good the roast is but waited over 30 minutes for our table each time. Waiting staff really putting the effort in. Bar staff seemed less keen but perhaps tired-out as it seems to get busy in waves. The food though is really delicious. Had a large roast beef other options were pork or turkeyMerry Christmas. You get lots of meat and the veg selection is also really good. Several people commented on how good the chef is here. Hats off to him. It's a pretty old hotel with a lot of history. Lots of interesting things on the walls in the bar, including the head of wild boar which is unusual for a seaside town. There's a fish tank separating the bar and dining area which is nice to watch and relax for 30 minutes whilst the table is prepared. Shorter than 5ft4 and have a baby that needs a nappy change? Good luck...the changing area in the ladies toilet is perched up on a window sill next to the sink. Luckily I'm tall and not afraid to strut my stuff in the ladies toilet so we managed but worth noting before you drop a poorly nappy on your head from a height. For the worst baby change table though you need to visit the ladies in The Golden Lion in St Ives. Photo worthy! The White Hart really is a great little place to eat though, just give yourself time and enjoy it.
Nice food friendly staff big pub Service: 5/5
