Ok so the food was really really good, kudos to the Chef Located on the high road and about 10mins walk from the train station, the restaurant opens at 6pm on a Saturday. There is a complusory 10% service charge which doesn't go to the waiter which I wasn't too pleased about because the front desk lady is also the waiter and she did alot of work and was so good and helpful. I think the owner needs to employ more hands You can bring your own wine along for an additional £2 for the wine lovers. Very small sized restaurant but decent enough to seat about 15people max. They had these small heaters which was great due to how cold it was outside. Single toilet which is quite clean...nothing extra or fancy so no pictures of this. Lol No wonder it's one of the best Vietnamese restaurants in Croydon, honestly you have to try it. The green curry with the coconut and sesame rice was amazing the pancake rolls are deep fried so won't recommend if you are watching your weight. The prawn tempura, vegetable spring rolls were delightful...I really look forward to the food again. Quite a large menu though didn't see no vegan options etc, I wouldn't class as a family restaurant as quite cosy, no kids menu etc Overall I would recommend
Friendly, lovely staff and amazing food! fab tempura and noodle soup! higly raccomended. Will definitely come back!
I go to this restaurant quite often, I have never been disappointed. The staff are so friendly and there is a good selection on the menu. The food is cooked fresh so all meals can be adapted to suit non meat eaters for example. I would advise booking as it is always busy in there. It is Take your own alcohol as they do not sell it.
Small & intimate setting. Generous portions & food was very tasty especially the chicken satay & Ca Chien crispy sea bream with tamarind sauce. The £2 corkage fee to BYOB is so worth it! And if you forget to bring somethingor require another bottle!; there is a supermarket conveniently located across the road. Cannot forget to mention the delightful Maria, who single handedly looked after all 20 diners in the restaurant. She was attentive, friendly and professional. I will definitely be back.
Small and casual restaurant with authentic Vietnamese cuisine. Portions are generous and the food is fresh, flavoursome and deliciousness. The BYOB policy is also great. You can enjoy a really good bottle of wine with your meal purchased at the off-licence for less than half of what it would ormally cost! Next to the amazing food and nice atmosphere, the service was great.
From the outside this place doesn't look much. The door is even a bit sticky. But appearances can be deceiving. The food here is excellent. Great flavours, well cooked. Very good prices. The staff are friendly and helpful, taking time to explain some of the menu items we had no seen before.
This was one of the nicest meals I have had for a long time. Fresh, simple and very very tasty. Shared the fish cakes and prawn summer rolls to start and all amazing and good sized portions to boot. As I’m a pescatarian I asked for the chicken and king prawn pancakes without the chicken. No problem at all and it was filled to bursting with juicy prawns. I could eat it all again today. But without a doubt the waitress made the experience extra special. I have forgotten her name to my shame but she was so friendly and engaging. Nothing to much trouble including my fussy food requirements! It’s a BYOB place so don’t forget to call in at Sainsbury’s around the corner first. 5 star food and service
Great food, but not a large restaurant, so you would need to book to be sure of getting a table. Open from 6pm. Love the food, everything was really tasty and what a great selection on the menu. They don't sell alcohol but you can take your own. Will definitely be going again when I can
I had heard this was a hidden gem and they were right. Service by the lovely Maria really made for an extra special evening but the star is the food... The fishcakes are the best I have ever had and the Vietnamese pancake was a first but not the last. Delicious
I have found food paradise in Croydon finally and it's called the Thanh Bistro. I deliberately went to this restaurant because I wanted to try Vietnamese food and also because of the ratings others have posted regarding this establishment. I dragged my friend along who knows nothing about Vietnamese food.....she described her dishes as 'food made with love' where as I did the 'Happy Food Dance' and almost cried with joy with the delightful flavours bopping around in my mouth. Love on a Plate would be a more appropriate name for place, some have called it a hidden gem I would say it's pure gold. The food is presented simply but with thought which instantly appeals and excites to the appropriate sences. The welcome is warm and genuinely inviting, only open for 5 hours a day, very small inside with maybe 30 covers at full capacity, it's a clean, well maintained restaurant. It is a bring your own booze and they will charge you £1.50 for each person indulging and but that cost is nothing on the scheme of things. All food is freshly cooked and homemade. ...just that statement by itself makes me want to cry. My only gripe or change would be is to not use iceberg lettuce as part of the garnishing. ...it's a cheap, tasteless form of lettuce that brings nothing to a dish.
