Had a great time. Up there with the best campsites I’ve been to. Being able to setup wherever you want makes it a lot more fun. The showers were great, although would be worried about having one shower to share between the whole campsite in busier periods. Also great how pubs and cafes are just across the road. All round great experience.
Important information first: you have to park in the carpark, carry all your equipment up to a bridge, over the river and up the hill to your chosen camp spot. If this doesn't bother you then it's a fantastic site. Showers are 50p it ate one of ours. Toilets are clean and modern. A lot of pitches are on a slope not all. Check in office is at Sykes Cafe in the village and not near the campsite. Direct path to Ennerdale water from the campsite. Reasonably priced. Overall an enjoyable experience in beautiful surroundings.
Excellent campsite with friendly owner. Great facilities nearby including their own tearooms. Ideal base camp for my Haystacks adventure.
Good for a local pub and hearing the sound of rushing water. Also handy for Dale Head and Scafell. However the loos - single shower will get over crowded and filthy if there’s a school trip or trips. Think the management need to be aware and clean more often when busy. Apart from that great campsite at 11/head
Loved our short 2 night stay on Sykes farm. The location is perfect for exploring the scenic area and luckily we got decent breaks in the rain to set up our tent and then break down at the end. The washroom facilities were great, although a bit of a walk for us at the furthest end of the site! All the staff we dealt with in the tea room were fantastic and even offered to fill our water bottles up without us asking. I would love to explore more of this area and will probably come back here to do so!
We love it here. Highly recommended! We stayed in one their yurts and ate regularly at their cafe. The kids were delighted with the ice cream choices and the cakes. Gluten free diets were happily catered for. Overall the staff were amazing, warm and welcoming every time, especially Will who looked after our yurt and to whom nothing seemed too much trouble.
Nice enough but have a few grumbles about the campers. We Paid £275 for a yurt which comes with the perks of its own cooking stoves In a hut and sinks exclusive to the yurts segregated off from the other campers. Also its own toilet. The other campers kept using the stoves and kettle's pots and pans ect provided so we hardly had chance to actually use them. We came without items as it stated it was all provided which to be fair it was. Not the farms fault but inconsiderate campers. Maybe some signs on the gates to the yurts asking campers to not use these things as the Yurts will be using them. Hate being petty but in the end we had to take these items out of the hut into the Yurt to ensure we could use them to actually eat and drink.
The loveliest campsite in the loveliest location with a stream running through it, not too big, mainly tents, a Shepherd's hut and a couple of yurts with two lakes to swim in on your door step - take your paddle board or canoe if you are lucky enough to have one! Very clean facilities also! Everything very dog friendly with one of the pubs even having dog meals on the menu! Fabulous tea rooms and pubs too, all this and the unspoilt views of the hills make it very popular spot. Will definitely be going back.
Stayed here in July just before the school holidays. The weather was absolutely beautiful and warm. The Campsite was operating at a limited capacity due to covid but I think this made the experience so much better as there weren't too many people. The Campsite is clean and In the perfect position and is probably the nicest place I've been to in the UK. I can't wait to come back here next summer
Great campsite, quite wild, very beautiful, right by the lakes and next to a lovely stream. Clean toilets and showers. Saw the Milky Way at night!! Amazing cafe in the village as well, definitely make time for a meal there - Lovely staff. 10/10 would recommend camping here.
