A fantastic campsite, the toilets are nice and clean with a great shower that doesn't have one if those stupid push buttons on it, just turn it on and away ya go. There's a little shoppy that sells various bits and bobs they also sell gas bottles. There's a couple of swings and trampolines for the kids. Its nice and secure too. There is bodies of water close by tho so young children and toddlers will need to be supervised to avoid accidents. I would love to go back, its such a picturesque camping ground.

Really excellent location with easy access to Ravenglass by train, car or on foot with lots of stops on the way presenting many opportunities to walk the fells on either side of the valley. The site has lots of grass pitches both with and without power. Hard standings for campervan are very limited, but essential if you are to avoid having to be pulled off the grass following times of heavy rain. The site shop is really well stocked with food, wines and beers alongside small toys and good quality locally themed gifts and mementos. The showers are excellent with copious quantities of hot water and they have proper temperature control taps that stay on for as long as you want them to. There are two pubs that serve good food within a five minute walk of the site and another one (with a pizza oven and consequently brilliant pizzas, tapas, more standard pub grub and good selection of beers and real ciders) about a mile further on from the site. As you would expect for this part of the world, there are lots of footpaths and hiking trails with something for walkers and runners of all levels. Fabulous views down to the sea at Ravenglass can be had from Muncaster Fell (about 250m ascent) or the other side of the valley with a similar walk. The Eskdale Valley seems to have a mildish microclimate and many wild and garden flowers and trees were in blossom earlier than in locations further south. The display of rhododendrons and camellias at Muncaster castle was impressive in late April.

A well deserved 5-star. This campsite is well situated with the most beautiful surroundings. The people that own the campsite are amazing. They made sure we were happy with our pitch and always helpful with any questions. The toilets and showers were always so clean. It is a pity that campers are a bit messy and do not appreciate a clean campsite. Highly recommended and a big thank you to Martin and to whoever placed beautiful flowers in the ladies every day!

Even with all of the rain, the owners and staff were extremely helpful and made sure that our stay was enjoyable and hassle free. The facilities are really good and clean. (The Drying room was extremely handy and welcomed with that wet weather) This is an amazing area to camp, we will definitely be back to see more of the Lake District!
