About

Strathaven Hotel is a family run hotel which hosts weddings, functions, meetings and conferences. We also serve daily meals, drinks and cocktails in our newly refurbished Bar & Restaurant.

Story

Strathaven Hotel is an 18th century country house in the historic town of Strathaven. It has 22 bedrooms, free parking and excellent dining and events facilities.

The hotel has recently been taken over by The Rissco Collection and this year will see a refurbishment of the bedrooms and public areas.

Phase one of the refurbishment is now complete and our new Bar & Restaurant is open for business.

Work is still taking place in other areas of the hotel and there may be some construction noise. We appreciate your support during this renovation period.

First visit for a while - definitely won't leave it as long next time! Went for dinner on a Saturday night - restaurant and bar were very, very busy.....I can see why. The staff were excellent, our waiter had good knowledge of the menu and was able to recommend the perfect wine to accompany our meal. Service was neither too slow or too brisk - we felt able to relax and enjoy our food, without excessive waits between courses or for additional drinks. The food itself was simply superb! Perfectly balanced flavours, wonderfully presented and ideal portion sizes to leave you feeling satisfied but not uncomfortably stuffed. We will be back as soon as we can and in the meantime will recommend to all our family and friends. 10 out of 10 guys - Well done!

A hotel of two halfs. The bar and lower two storeys have been stunningly refurbished. Unfortunately the money appears to have run out when you hit the upper floor which is where I was staying. Room was comfortable but dated - the kettle had definitely seen better days. Dining was again a mixed experience. Well stocked bar, food was variable and not particularly inspired but reasonably priced. Staff were enthusiastic and attentive though. Overall good value and I would stay again.

Visited this afternoon for lunch with our lovely adopted family. What a transformation! The refurbishment, so far, is so impressive and really beautifully done. The welcome from Christine was outstanding and we also met the new owner Hans. The food was delicious and very well presented We retired to the very comfortable lounge area where we enjoyed tea/coffee and tablet. A most enjoyable afternoon.

The recent improvements are lovely. Service and food were great. Access road needs repairing but that is probably due to the bad weather recently.

This is a review of the restaurant only. We are here with my family for a celebration meal. It's nicely decorated inside and was almost full on a Friday evening so we are glad we booked. The food was ok, it tasted nice but it was quite expensive for the quality and presentation we received, e.g. some of the salad garnish on the pate was withered and not edible. Another person who was with us had the Stornoway black pudding and duck egg. Again it was nice enough but the black pudding was falling to pieces as it had been dumped on the plate. £6 for one slice of black pudding with an egg on top needed to be better that what he received. Service wasn't much better, we only got offered one drink and even then the soft drinks were only 200ml bottles which is weird when they have a full bar in the restaurant. I wouldn't rush back
