Staff were out of this world.
Food outstanding plus portions.
Facilities were great 
Pool was cold .

Old hotel with plenty of character, but in need of some updating. Sign in bathroom advised that hot tap has to be run for several minutes to get warm! Not really acceptable in today's living standards. Staff are friendly and restaurant food is varied, well cooked and well presented.

went for afternoon tea. was very basic  large triangle sandwiches  hard shop bought scones and two shop bought sponge squares that had been cut in two.  waitress was nice and pleasant.

Great place to visit for lunch or dinner.
Well stocked bar.
Do miss the log fires. Gas fire is not the same.

I love the Popinjay been here 3 times and always look forward to my stay. The food is lovely and staff are very helpful. The spa is clean and very relaxing. Good size pool.
