A lovely Anglican Church for the Air force. Beautiful alter and has a crypt. It was only open for the Open House Day when I went on Saturday. Not sure if it was open in the week. It's in the Strand right opposite the Old Bailey and a bus stop.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Originally there was a medieval church founded by Danes. The current one was designed by Wren, same architect that designed St Paul’s cathedral. The church was destroyed during the second war and rebuilt in 1958. Is the church for the Royal Air Force. The church is known as one of the two 'Island Churches as few meters aways there is a similar church, both previously surrounded by traffic!
Fascinating church commemorating the Royal Air Force RAF. The church was bombed and destroyed during World War 2 and then rebuilt you would not know it. The caretaker was very friendly and gave me an informative mini tour.
We found this church by chance, what a gem so ornate and such lovely memorials and the floor with all the squadron crests. I have to say it was very calming inside. Very much worth seeingVisited onWeekend
This church is unfortunately positioned in the middle of the Strand making it just enough out of the way to only visit if you intend or are adventurous. We stopped while we were waiting for another store to open and glad we did. This is a beautiful old church which has been rebuilt a number of times dedicated to military personnel. The lists of the fallen are displayed around the outer aisle of the church with photos and memorabilia displayed in the back. A wide central aisle with a barrel vaulted ceiling lead the eye to the front altar. There is also a beautifully carved wooden pulpit. There is a crypt below the church, but was closed the day we were there. Well worth a visit to honor the fallen.
Amazing tribute to the RAF. The detailed flooring in the Isles are interesting regimental badges. Many RAF artifacts and memorabilia. Great bell tower too.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo

Visited this church for the first time today. We were very fortunate to have met Reverent Chapman and the lady staff at the entrance. Reverent Chapman was so welcoming, and even gave us a tour of the church's crypt. This church is beautiful, and it is an honour for the RAF members. The history is immense. We will visit again, to support the church. We highly recommend a visit, to attend the church services and concerts; to support the church by donations and volunteering work. Thank you, Reverent Chapman, you have made our day in our busy city!
Situated on The Strand near to Fleet Street and opposite the High Court. St Clement Danes is known for its affiliation to the Royal Air Force, and there are many references to their heroics during two world wars exhibited throughout the church. This iconic London church is also mentioned in the nursery rhyme 'Oranges and Lemons'
Worth visiting if you're in the area. The Church is dedicated to the RAF with various memorabilia displayed inside to commerate those who have last their lives in service to their country. Very spacious inside with wide central aisle and deep pews. There is also a crypt you can visit. Free to enter, but donations welcomed.
