Gorgeous and calm street during the evening. This church is near Deloitte and Golden Sacks offices. There are quite a bit of street work! So do be mindful of where you are going and which street you need to turn into. The church seems lovely surrounded by high rises and urban infrastructure.
Unfortunately under construction when I was there. Quite big Anglican parish church with a modern touch. I love the surroundings, popular to have lunch in the garden by the nearby offices.Visited onWeekdayReservation recommendedNo
It was gutted by a German bomb in the Blitz, but faithfully rebuilt to the design of Sir Christopher Wren, who had earlier rebuilt the church after the 1666 Great Fire. Very beautiful inside, with a tasteful blend of very old and modern design . The afternoon light through the windows was interesting.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
This is a guild church, worshipping in the modern Catholic tradition. It has been a place of worship for over a thousand years. It was renovated by Sir Christopher Wren in 1687. It was badly damaged in 1941 by an incendiary bomb and rebuilt in 1961. Recently updated and decorated, it re opened in May 2019.
Not much of a Jesus person myself, admittedly, though the Primary Jesus Room is great for orchestra concerts. Perfectly hard and uncomfortable pews. Wonderful painting of Jesus standing over a hedgehog in a tiny cave. All the doors and windows seem to be in working order, which is a plus. They didn't have any blood sacrifices listed in the schedule, so probably family friendly. Maybe no pets though just in case.
A beautiful church in Holborn. A place of peace and quiet in the busy hart of London. William Marsden was inspired to form The Royal Free after finding a dying child near the Church.
Lovely church with a rich history. Friendly congregation and spectacular architecture.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
This church has numerous historic associations with the current building attributed to Wren. The spacious interior a facsimile reconstruction. Foundling Hospital 'bluecoat' statues gaze wistfully over the pleasant garden courtyard affording momentary respite from the daily grind and a busy streetscape.
Really nice church. I at times go to the grounds to have my lunch. It as peaceful a place you can find in London by a main road.
Stunning Christopher Wren church. Always found a great sense of spirituality here & attendance at a recent midweek evening mass was no exception. Beautiful liturgy and service, led by the Bishop of Fulham.
