Highly recommend to visit Saint Paul. Was one of my favourite place in London. Ticket was 25 pound, a bit expensive, but really worth it. So beautiful both inside and outside Recommend to visit morning time in week day, it’s less crowded. Also there is a small gift shop in B1. There are lots of Christmas vibe card and ornament.
Saint Paul's cathedral was on our little grand daughters 'to do' list when I agreed to show her around London recently. We visited one Thursday afternoon and we made our way directly to the entrance area to pay the entry charge and pick up the portable audio system. Being available in many languages we found this particularly useful to help bring the whole visit to life. We spent quite some time in the nave learning about the history of this wonderful place. Then, my 9 year old was keen to climb all the steps, firstly to the Whispering Gallery and then further up to the two other levels. They warn you that the stairs are narrow, winding and steep. I can confirm this! But the views of London from the top are stunning. We didn't spend so much time in the crypt area except to visit the restrooms which were clean and functional.
Disappointed..25 pounds for a mediocre church and a crypt full of tombs..you can spend your time and money way more useful than this place. It has no sacred flavor as the Westminster Abbey. Expected much more. Still you can make good pictures there..especially outside with a red telephone booth.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedYes
If you can see the interior of only one place in London, let it be this. It's a very impressive cathedral. It's absolutely gorgeous. The ceilings are breathtaking. I did the tour, there wasn't a lot of interesting information on the audio guide. The climb up to the Golden Gallery is definitely something. It's quite steep and narrow, however there are multiple breaks for you to catch you breath. There is even seating. Photography is strictly prohibited in the Whispering Gallery, I don't know why. The audio guide says it's called the whispering gallery because if someone whispers to the wall from the one side of the gallery, you should be able to hear it if you put your ear to the wall on the opposite side. My friend and I tried this but it didn't work. I don't know if it was because of the noise from people around us. You can get some stunning panoramic views atop the Golden Gallery, I think it's definitely worth the climb.
The architecture is simply beautiful. There's something so serene about the cathedral. Spend at least an hour or two here to soak in all that beautiful architecture and history. The crypt was full of famous and notable individuals including Sir Horatio Nelson, the Duke of Wellington and Florence Nightingale. We also visited the whispering Gallery which was a climb of over 250 stairs but didn't venture any further up as think it would have killed me. An enjoyable experience! Very helpful people all about to answer any questions you may have.
St. Paul’s Cathedral in London is one of the most iconic and historic landmarks in the city. Located at the highest point in the City of London on Ludgate Hill, the cathedral has been a site of Christian worship for over 1,400 years. The current cathedral, known for its stunning architecture and magnificent dome, was designed by Sir Christopher Wren and completed in 1710, following the destruction of the previous cathedral in the Great Fire of London in 1666. The cathedral's architecture is a masterpiece of English Baroque style, with a grand facade, twin towers, and a majestic dome that dominates the London skyline. The dome, which rises 111 meters 365 feet above the ground, was inspired by St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome and is one of the largest in the world. Visitors can climb up to the Golden Gallery at the top of the dome for panoramic views of London. Inside St. Paul’s Cathedral, the interior is equally impressive, with intricate mosaics, ornate carvings, and beautiful stained glass windows. The cathedral’s layout includes the nave, choir, and the high altar, each adorned with exquisite details. The Whispering Gallery, located within the dome, is famous for its unique acoustics, allowing whispers to be heard clearly across the gallery. St. Paul’s Cathedral has been the site of many significant events in British history. It has hosted the funerals of important figures such as Sir Winston Churchill and Lord Nelson, the wedding of Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer, and Jubilee celebrations for Queen Victoria and Queen Elizabeth II. The cathedral continues to be a place of worship, holding regular services and special events. The crypt of St. Paul’s houses the tombs and memorials of many notable individuals, including Sir Christopher Wren, Lord Nelson, and the Duke of Wellington. It also features an impressive collection of monuments dedicated to military and public service heroes. St. Paul’s Cathedral is not just a place of worship but also a major tourist attraction, welcoming millions of visitors each year. The cathedral offers guided tours, multimedia guides, and educational programs to help visitors learn about its history, architecture, and significance. The St. Paul’s Cathedral School, located adjacent to the cathedral, is known for its choir, which performs at services and special events. St. Paul’s Cathedral is a symbol of resilience and renewal, reflecting London’s rich history and cultural heritage. Its architectural splendor, historical importance, and spiritual significance make it a must-visit destination for anyone exploring the city.
A beautiful cathedral with a large dome. So elegant. Did the tour inside, and also climbed all the way up. The stairs keep getting narrower as you reach the second level and the last stretch is just a metal staircase. Anyone with a medium level of fitness can surely climb it ..Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedYes
Wow! What an amazing day, spent 3 hours here and also climbed to the top, 257 wooden steps to the Whispering gallery which were small wide steps so easy to climb compared to the rest, 119 steps to the Stone Gallery from the Whispering Gallery, the stone gallery has some amazing views, lovely breeze when we went, 152 steps to the Golden Gallery from the Stone Gallery. In total 528 steps to the top. Highly Recommend if you can then climb to the top, do it!!! The views at the top are amazing too but it can be tight to move around if busy.
Would have been a higher score but we were rushed out sooner than we expected. Kindly, our tickets were willingly extended to allow us to return at some time in the future at no additional cost. The review will be updated accordingly. No hard feelings, a very busy team were trying to launch an event on time. It really is a spectacular place to visit, I look forward to seeing the rest!
