Love this castle tower. They have a tearoom inside. There are food markets and events here and I think weddings can be held here. You can view seven counties from the top of the tower. The views across Kent are great. Set in an amazing park with a nice rose garden just down the hill. In the summer this is a really nice place to spend a lazy afternoon.
What an amazing surprise! Expected a quiet little tea room and stumbled on a bustling market in the middle of the woods. Plenty to eat and drink and the views are the best I've seen in London?! Could not recommend enough. A great Sunday afternoon activity.Visited onWeekendWait timeUp to 10 minReservation recommendedNo
Absolutely lovely Tea Rooms and Lovely food too with Vegan options too. Very helpful Staff as well. Tower part is open on Sundays Only. 10am and last entry is at 3:45pm Update I highly recommend the Biscoff brownies!!!!
Update - July 2024 Made it to the viewing platform today. £4 well worth it, not just for the panoramic views, but also the awesome volunteers. Thank you for making our visit all the more special. Well done and keep going Update with new photos: Today we ended up at the Severndroog Producers Market. Such a nice selection of stalls with excellent produce. Open 1st Sunday of the month. OG: Walked past it 100 times and today decided to soak up Feb sunshine with delicious cuppa and chocolate shortbread at an outdoor table. Viewing platform still closed until it gets warmer. Well worth the visit. Found a cow nearby too ;
Lovely little gem hidden in the woods just outside Woolwich, London. Nice and relaxing with very friendly staff in the café just the little break you need from the hustle and bustle of the concrete jungle.
We visited on a Sunday morning when the monthly makers' market was on. Great atmosphere and a good choice of stalls including options for vegan and gluten free food. The volunteers are friendly, helpful and very knowledgeable about the history of the site. There are even binoculars to borrow so you can get the best from the amazing views over London from the viewing platform. Highly recommended if you are in the area.
Excellent volunteering team, amazing castle. Everyone's friendly & they all have a knack for bringing history to life. The view from the top of the castle alone is more than worth the price of admission. They also do a lot of really interesting events, if you're on the fence please go check it out!
Visited here when the market/craft was on Sunday. Took a trip to the viewing tower £4 for adults. Unexpected history great views very pleasant staff. Had a walk around the woods also. beautiful! Tight parking so I’d suggest to do so before turning in snd walk the short walk.
Its been an exciting trip with lots of surprises. I was wondered by the history of the castle. The top of the castle was accessible for mesmerizing view. The area has incredible view with lots of woods. Perfect for kids, pets and elderly people to have a healthy and happy walk. It got tea room and toilets. The parking is free. Perfect for weekend trip with family. The Sunday markets are cherry on top. We had lots of fun, activity at Nan and Van workshop. Many artisans were there too. Interesting food and sweets as well. Enjoy
Beautiful tiny castle with nice wooded area nearby.
