We stayed recently, for 1 night. Chose specifically for location as we were going to a game st St James's Park. We picked a room with a view of the stadium and are so glad we did. It was great to watch all the fans dotting about getting ready for the match and at night when back in our room we were able to listen to the music from the stack. The only thing the room lacked was air con. The fan in the room wasn't enough to cool us, but we didn't let it ruin a lovely weekend at least there was a fan.
I loved our stay here as I got upgraded to junior suite with a nice little kitchen and a lot more floor space. Nice modern bathroom with walk in shower. Staff were very helpful and there is room service. The windows have white blinds and blackout so you can choose. The downsides for us were no air conditioning and the night was hot!. Yes they gave us a fan but it did little to help us sleep so we had a bad nights sleep. A factor in this was the strange tiny pillows that somehow never supported our heads. So that's why 4 stars. Parking is very close and a 3 minutes walk. Costs are high though as the room was £115 plus £17 parking even with discount.
Perfect location. Hotel was perfect. Very clean. We took a dog and room was ready with dog bed and treats, which we thought was a fantastic touch. Breakfast is served in hotel bar and has a fabulous selection. All staff are friendly and extremely polite. Will defiled stay again when in the city. Walkability: Hotel is perfectly located. Right opposite St James football ground and within a 5 minute walking distance to shops, bars and restaurants. Food & drinks: Shark club is apart of the hotel, has a sports vibe about it. Menu has quiet a good selection. Cocktails are also amazing.
- Tastefully decorated - Rooms of high quality for price point - great value. - Parking 2 min walk or on road/side street - 3rd visit and never failed to get a space. - 5 min walk from restaurants etc… - Shark bar does alright breakfast - not quite as good as a Hilton, but then it’s not a £20 breakfast. - Staff/team here are exceptional - always attentive, quick, nothing too much trouble.
Great location, not far from town. The first impression of the room was nice, However after a day U started to see how unclean it was. Half eaten biscuits under side units, dust, other peoples hair utensils. The fridge although a great addition to any room made a horrendous noise when it kicked in, not great as it woke me ip during night,had to switch it off before going to sleep. Bathroom extract fan rattled like a bag o spanners. Staff were really nice and helpful. It was really nice weather during my stay and I presume this was a factor in the room being so warm verging on uncomfertable. No aircon just a table fan to blow the hot aur about. Walkability: very close to town
Me and my husband have Just returned home from an overnight stay at The sandman hotel. The hotel staff were very helpful , our hotel room and the public areas very clean. We went through to the sports bar last night which is Joined onto the hotel to watch the England match . There were plenty tv's were you could stand to watch the game and plenty bar staff so you didn't feel like you were standing too long to get served. We will definitely be returning to this hotel again . Thank you for a lovely stay !
Myself and my husband stayed here 5/6 of August as we were going to the Newcastle hospital to visit a friend ,we travelled from Dublin and from check in to check out this hotel was excellent. A Big thank you especially to Angela at breakfast and lilly in reception.Rooms: 5/5
The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The breakfasts were very good. There was a peculiar smell in our room throughout - like cat spray- which rather spoilt the experience there. Very good to have a microwave and a fridge. Good to have a walk in shower too.
We had a wonderful stay this weekend! It’s super dog friendly and our little pooch was made very welcome! She got a dog bed, some treats, a bowl but we brought our own!, and a poo bag key ring to keep!. We had views of the football stadium at the front of the hotel. It’s a great location and within walking distance to plenty of attractions. The bed is super comfy and there was ample space for our stuff. It even has a microwave if you wanted a quick snack!! Will definitely stay again!! Walkability: Minutes from Chinatown, Eldon Gate, University, and the centre Noteworthy details: No car park, but park opposite at St James’ car park
Lovely hotel based in the St James end of Newcastle, lovely staff who looked after my bag while I was at an event at the stadium, and beautiful room with a view of Newastle, and well equipped with a fridge, fan and microwave. Be weary of the shower however, no matter what we did there was water all over the floor, thankfully it dries up fairly quickly.
