Superb hotel just four metro stops from the city center. The rooms offer exceptional comfort. The hotel provides parking spaces for its visitors, which is a real plus in this neighborhood. The breakfast is very hearty, and the cocktails at the bar are excellent. It’s an ideal place to relax as a couple.Rooms: 5/5
Everywhere is clean within the hotel, bar, and terrace area. Food and drink not overly priced Which makes a change for a hotel bar. Bedroom and bathroom very clean and spacious. Bed comfortable. My only complaint is the room is so hot. Just a small window to open and a fan. Sadly where the power socket is located is too far from the bed to feel any real benefit from the fan Staff all very friendly and helpful. Many thanks to the bar staff for recommending Appleshed cider.
Great price for this hotel and can't fault the cleanliness. The shower was powerful and bed was very comfy with a good choice of pillows to choose from. It's a 30 minute walk or 10 min bus ride into Newcastle itself and the bus stop is a stones throw from the hotel. There is free parking on site as well which was handy for us. The decor in the bathroom was a little dated and the noise did travel both from guests returning late to their rooms and from outside as our window faced out towards the front, so just something to note if you're a light sleeper like me! Nearby activities: Plenty of cafes, etc...nearby in Jesmond itself. Close to Newcastle city centre and museums. Walkability: 30 minutes walk to Newcastle, 2 mins to the bus stop and plenty of cafés and shops nearby.
Great hotel a little frosty welcome but that soon changed. Rooms very clean and comfortable. Dodgy lift would only work when it felt like it. THIS IS A BIG No No. No disabled entrance there are two front entrances surley 1 could be ramped or even at the rear. So my only moan is upgrade the lift and build a ramp on one of the entrances. After all you do advertise disabled friendly rooms but you have to get in first. Lovely manager on hand to help.
For a budget hotel, this place is my go-to when I stay in Newcastle. Rooms are well priced so you would expect them to be basic but actually they are well appointed, spacious, very comfortable beds and nice en-suite bathrooms. It can get z little noisy with local students socialising in the evenings but it does quieten down. Staff are what make this place though. I am just finishing mu breakfast right now and want to give Christina a shout out for her service! The reception team are lovely and helpful too. If you're doing a city break, great place to use as s base and great for business travelers who don't want to break the budget on expensive hotels.
After a 5 hour drive it was a welcoming sight to see the hotel frontage look's grand. Parked in the car park at the back of the hotel unloaded the suitcases and wandered into reception, who were welcoming, friendly and helpful. Then we came across our only dislike which was the lift, it was quite a kuffel. Once in the room it was very impressive, clean with an airy feel, ensuite a good size and the shower was excellent for me shame it was in the bath. Slept quite well even with the outside noise from the bar. Breakfast had plenty to pick from full English, continental, cereal and pastries. Our first breakfast, we were nearly first in everything for the full English were in hot pan's these were easy to open and had soft close, so you didn't have to hold them open whilst dishing up your food. The downside is fried eggs soon lose their runny yolk. Enjoyed my breakfast due to the choice. Other things impressed asked reception to book a taxi for the morning they told us how much it should be, upon arrival the next morning they telephoned us informing us it was here and where abouts it was waiting. The location worked great for us, bus's stop a few minutes away and metro 5-10 minutes away. So would I stay again? Definitely Yes
Sloppy food hygiene. We ate in the restaurant and were served stone cold main courses containing chicken despite a 5 star rating for hygiene. The meals were grudgingly replaced. The restaurant managers were surly and grumpy. The reception and waiting staff were lovely. Owen was a star. Room was nice but hot water temperature was dangerously high. Bed very comfortable. The shower was good but the loo flush didn't work properly. Wifi password was less than easy to find in the room. Cooked breakfast was also cold. Other guests we spoke to who had stayed several nights told us the poor food and grumpy restaurant management every day had spoiled their stay. Avoid. Eat out. Sloppy food safety gets you an automatic one star review.
Room was clean and very spacious, had a wee sitting room. Great for a two night stay. Staff on desk and in breakfast restaurant helpful and friendly. Both breakfast, first buffet, 2nd waiter served, were very good. Only complaint was the noise. Saturday night we expected the main drag to be busy and it was but that noise didn’t carry up to our room, the windows are well insulated. The corridor however was desperately noisy as the ancient floorboards creak loudly all the way along and there seemed to be a party of young kids allowed to run riot! All happy noise but not relaxing. I caved in just before 11pm and called reception who responded promptly, in fact she seemed to flick a switch and silence them! Rooms: Spacious and clean Food & drinks: Breakfast was very good. Continental and cooked.
Dreadful service from reception staff on Friday 26th July pm, so rude. Hotel room stank of smoking. Dated rooms, dirty shower head, cables hanging out the wall next to the headboard. Toilet had clearly not been cleaned as previous guest's 'deposit' still in there. Rowdy bar and noisy in the rooms above. The location is decent for going into Newcastle but Jesmond is generally not what it's made out to be. Just a haven for hen and stag parties, noisy and stinks of smoking wherever you turn. Will not return.
I was very impressed with this hotel, best I've stayed in with holiday coach company. Staff very friendly, my room was very good too. I was a single traveller but had a double room. Really nice. Good food & nice atmosphere. Room was large with white linen, nice large towels, good tv & easy WiFi. Thick curtains so nice & dark to sleep. Good ventilation to open windows. Bathroom, bath & overhead shower with great pressure. Oldish bathroom but very clean. Plenty of towels. Loved the touch lights & a sweet teapot for making tea. Lovely staff. Dinners were fabulous & really good breakfast had lovely yogurt/fruit, poached eggs, plenty to eat.
