Nice large superior room though no drawer storage for a 3 day stay. Unfortunately the small fan provided didn't help us sleep as room was so hot windows don't open. Leisure centre is fine but steam room out of order and lots of stairs to negotiate. I'd recommend taking flip flops. Walkability: Easy to get to everywhere we wanted to.
From the outside, the hotel looks lovely. The foyer and bar are also very nice. Unfortunately this does not extend to the rooms; ours was tiny, the bath did not have a plug and so could not be used, there was absolutely 0 natural light into the room and it had a generally depressing feel to it. My main issue was the night staff, who barely spoke any English and were quite rude in dealing with us. This issue alone was enough for me to decide, I won't be staying here again, despite the hotel's convenient location.
Stayed overnight at this hotel, which is in a great location. The only issue we had was that it needs bringing upto date mainly with a bit of paint etc. It's a great old building which could look so much better. Breakfast was a buffet, this was fine. Had everything you wanted from cereal to fruit, toast & the essential fry up. The only other issue we had was that as our room is around the front of the hotel, traffic at night is busy & noisy - ask for a room at the back for a good sleep!!
Had a super 5 day stay here! Hotel is direct on the main train station. Easy Metro connection to Airport or town center. All the Personal deserve 10 Stars! All very frendly and helpful. Great good. A Pool in the nearby train station can be used free of Charge. Looking forward to staying here again in the Future Walkability: Close to all places of interest. Food & drinks: Very good sunday lunch.
Cheap and acceptably cheerful really. Location is ideal at the station right at the bottom end of town centre, and this was the best priced hotel we found. Downsides, bed was pretty ropey and squeaked and creaked enough to notice when you rolled over in the night, and the room was quite dark and dingy. But it was all clean, quite comfortable and did the job. Wouldn't mind going back again at all. Did the job.
A hotel full of character! This hotel was just perfect for what we needed, and with its location being a part of the Central station, this made it even better for coming off of the train and straight into the hotel! From the start, this hotel is full of character and was a real treat! The foyer was just stunning with it's giant chandelier, it certainly set it apart from your standard hotel and considering how we paid a very good price for our stay, we couldn't complain! The staff were friendly, the room was great, on the top and had a view overlooking the station and the river Tyne. Breakfast was included a buffet which was of a very good standard! A great period hotel and I'd highly recommend if you're visiting Newcastle. Rooms: The room was basic, clean and tidy, the bed was a bit on the wobbly side but on the whole, nothing to complain about. Nearby activities: Quality bars and restaurants are all within close proximity to the hotel along with the Quayside and various historic landmarks. Walkability: Bars, restaurants, city center is all within a close walking distance, if not, then the Metro is very close and gets you about with ease. Noteworthy details: Fantastic location where public transport is concerned.
Overall the staff were excellent and the food was on the ball. We booked direct with the hotel and got 15 percent off food purchased and 2 free drink vouchers. The pool was not in operation when we got there which was a let down they had an emergency of some sort . The room did not meet our expectation as per the photo's on the website they could do with updating. Anyway the location is excellent and would i return here maybe. Rooms: Room was ok. There was a breeze coming through the window single glazed and not clean, you could hear the noise from the street. In the drawer beside the bed was ear plugs that will tell you about the noise. Heat wasn't working till we reported it. Bathroom was clean but small.
Stayed at Royal Station Hotel, following a recent overnight trip to Newcastle. Excellent service from check in to check out. Room was perfect & exceptionally clean, great buffet breakfast in the morning - added bonus of cocktail bar next door. Big shout out to Ben Front of House manager who went above & beyond. Will defo stay again.
Booked two double rooms in July 2023. Checked in at 15.45 on May 9 2024 to be allocated a 'cozy' room with three quarter bed. Our fellow travellers had a full double. When we complained, was told we booked in too late. Never stop there again.
Wow what a terrible place.! Dirty, Difficult parking, Staff have no clue especially manager Ben breaking Immigration Hotel Records Order 1972 using scare tactic to steal personal data. The hotel stank of damp and smoke, the room was disgusting with sockets hanging off and stained sheets with protruding smell of urine. I left instantly reported the breech of data protection. What an absolutely sorry state of a place in such a vibrant city.
