Loved our stay here. We had a double room, which was adequate for a 1 night stay. Very clean. No issues at all. Perfect spot for exploring Lancaster. We parked in the car park recommended, which was a short walk. Quirky hotel. Felt very comfortable & relaxed here. All the staff we spoke to were lovely. Especially the young lass in the morning when we were checking out. Unfortunately we didn't get her name. We would definitely stay here again. Nearby activities: Close to everything in the city centre. Food & drinks: Great pubs & restaurants nearby Noteworthy details: Close to both theatres.
I didn't actually stay at the hotel, rather the Lancaster house hotel on the uni campus to visit my sister who is studying law. My family came here to eat after being dissatisfied with the other restaurants and we were astounded by how friendly our waiter was. I recall her name being Yasmin. She was so lovely and sweet and the talked to us about everything. She made no mistakes and always made an effort to help us and take our order. The food was great but lacked a bit of seasoning. I am definitely coming back to the restaurant when I come back to Lancaster!
Location of the hotel is great, if a little noisy on a bank Holiday weekend. The reception staff while polite, were lacking in basic communication skills and as a result came across as unwelcoming. The same can be said of the breakfast staff. If I were in management at this hotel perhaps this could be fixed by some basic customer service training. The room was fine however the shower temperature was either scalding hot or icy cold, this can be fixed but should have been spotted in a simple management periodical inspection. Overall a somewhat disappointing stay. Safety: The shower was scolding hot.
We had a good stay at this traditional town centre hotel. It's a nice, well looked after hotel. Friendly staff and clean. We had dinner and breakfast which were both excellent. Couldn't fault it.Rooms: 5/5
Visited for Christmas day dinner, which was our first experience of eating out on Christmas day. We were welcomed with Champagne, seated in the bar area before being moved to the dinning area. There was 5 courses over the course of about 2 hours. Overall the food was hit and miss, e.g. out of 4 different starters, we enjoyed two. But they had our orders wrong, one main was the wrong main, one came without gravy and by course 4 we were asked each time if we'd like food to go because they needed to clean. However, the staff Overall were lovely, and you could see they were doing as much as they could to help. We felt terrible for the person left to the bar by herself, they were clearly new and had to go and ask colleagues how to make certain drinks. Overall it was pleasant.
Perfect location in Lancaster for visiting the city. Opposite the Castle and the shopping area with a large choice of good restaurants and fast food places. Quiet rooms, confortable beds. Excellent breakfast.Rooms: 4/5
Great location in the centre of the city. 3 stars is for the quality of the room and road noise. TIP: request a quiet room. Windows were paper thin so we could hear the busy road All night. Room 201 felt tired and the bathroom was dated. But at £58 for a room only it was hard to grumble. If we had realised the road noise was going to be such an issue we'd have requested to move rooms. The rest of the hotel is nice and felt modern. Old fashioned lift is a quaint touch.
Room was excellent as always. Did have a ocuple of issues this time. First was the fact that there was a sign at reception, indicating that late checkout was £12.50 during March, and the receptionist wanted to charge me £15. Eventually this was resolved. The second issue was the fact that I placed a order for room service through the phone app, but for some reason this was never received by reception. Not their fault, but perhaps the app needs looking at to solve this issue. Other than these two small things, I enjoyed the stay, and I will point out that after staying on a few occasions, this is the only time there has been any issues.
Friendly, helpful staff and perfectly located for the train station and town. Our superior double plus was a large room and had a great view of the castle and Lancaster but would really benefit from a super king bed and some comfortable chairs to sit in. The room was a bit chilly during the daytime - we were told that the heating comes on at 6pm. After that it was lovely and warm.
We went as a large family group, for a 1940s themed murder mystery weekend. I have to say we had a fantastic weekend. The hotel staff were very welcoming and happy to help with anything you asked of them. The room we stayed in was lovely, clean and roomy. The hotel itself has loads of character!! The food was exceptional!!! Yum yum! Great selection at breakfast and very large potions, definitely wouldn’t go hungry with the full English I would definitely recommend this hotel!
