Sounds mad but I give this 5 stars because I can't give 4 and half and it's much better than 4 for all it's fantastic features. I popped in when passing by because I have a vague memory of being here as a child, sailing and sinking my remote controlled boat on the boating pond. There is so much to do for kids and adults: Basketball shooting court, tennis court, all weather outside table tennis, skate / bike park and an adventure playground all pretty near to each other. There are also a waterfall, gardens, wildlife zone and woodland trails. Nearly all are free. There is outdoor gym equipment spaced around paths marked by distance for walkers, runners and cyclists. This will be great for doing light circuits whilst getting fresh air and some sun hopefully. These run around large swathes of open well kept lawn. There's a lovely cafe with a terrace looking on to a once boating pond and thats where I can't go the full 5 stars. The pond and the island in the middle are very pretty but aren't utilised for anything anymore it seems. I think it would ideal for a few paddle boards and a few pedal boats especially the ones shaped as swans and also maybe some decorative water features and fountains. It isn't needed by far but that would be icing on the cake. I recommend Rouken Glen for everyone. Even though it's about 40 minutes from me and I have Strathclyde Park close by, I'll be visiting again, especially for the events they host. Playground: An adventure playground with so much for the kids Restrooms: There is a pavilion with toilets and the cafe too. I didn't go round the full park Dog-friendliness: I saw many dog walkers and the cafe has dishes of water sitting out front. Picnic area: You can picnic in many places but barbecues aren't allowed
Has a nice balance of wide open green spaces, wetlands and some truly rural feeling trails and geographical features like a waterfall. Large kids play area, public toilets and a wonderful cafe. Grounds aren’t too hilly so suitable for most ages and mobilities. One of the best parks in Glasgow for sure. Playground: Huge and well maintained
This place is love, you can feel the real connection with the nature specially the waterfalls. Hats off to the authorities for making extraordinary efforts to preserve the nature. Its a gem for Scotland and Scottish people.
This park is truly a gem! The lake and waterfall add breathtaking natural beauty, creating a serene ambiance perfect for a peaceful day out. The trail leading down through lush trees alongside the river and back up on the other side offers delightful walks with stunning views at every turn. Additionally, the kids' play area is exceptionally well-maintained, packed with fun and safe equipment, making it the best I've ever seen! Plus, the coffee shop by the lake is a wonderful addition, providing a perfect spot to enjoy a cup of coffee, a snack, or a delicious ice cream while taking in the tranquil lake views. A fantastic spot for family outings where both adults and children can enjoy their day to the fullest.
Nice park with activities for everyone and every age. Parking is free and there are also free and clean toilets, barbecues are not allowed. The skate park is small but kids love it. The children park for little ones is simply amazing. In front of the lake the boathouse sells great ice creams and hot food, every season is covered, at more than honest prices. The trails offer shade in the wood and nice views over the river and waterfalls. Sometimes I come here to have a run because trails are well maintained. There is also a garden centre selling plants and garden furniture. Overall it is a great park, very well maintained and suitable for everyone.
A tram ride from Eglinton st with my parents used to be a regular sunday occurence in my childhood in the late 1950's.This is a really beautiful park on the outer edge of southwest Glasgow but unfortunately it also has suffered the ravages of post covid downturn. After an absence from the park for 3 years, i found the once excellent courtyard restaurant is no more. Today, although still furnished the Boatyard restaurant was also closed. So no facilities at all apart from adjacent expensive garden centre restaurant. From main gate there is a lovely looping trail walk through the riverside glen up to the waterfall which is then only a short walk to the splendid pond with its abundant bird life. A haven for dog walking with i must admit mainly friendly and well behaved charges.A situation which the dogs seem to have under complete control The waterfall was in full spate during this period of almost constant rain and was indeed an exciting sight to behold. There is an excellent children's playground and skateboarders were also in evidence today. A wonderful place of peace, tranquility and stunning views well worth visiting. Playground: Large playground to left of main entrance Dog-friendliness: Park was teeming with dogs today. Please observe simple rules of poop scooping, thanks Picnic area: There are various areas available for picnicing in this large park.
Always a great place for a wee walk, or to read a book/ have a picnic in the summer
Great park to go to with young kids. Also great walking areas to go with dogs. Spent a good few hours here and really enjoyed it Playground: Loads to do, was busy day but still loads for kids to play on Restrooms: Didn't go to them but they are right next to the playground Dog-friendliness: Loads of different areas to walk dogs. First time there with my dog and she loved it Picnic area: Few picnic benches dotted about
Lovely atmosphere, beautiful and massive Amazing park for kids of all ages Baby swings, toddler section and then big climbing structures for big kids/teenagers. Well equipped and stunning on the farther side with a beautiful pond/body of water. Highly recommended as one of Glasgows best parks.
Lovely well maintained park, worth a visit.
