Shocking company. I am surprised a business can survive with this level of poor customer services and greed. - If you are 'lucky' enough to get through to a human being when contacting Rooftop you'll be met with rude and unhelpful staff members. - The maintenance man is incompetent and often left more faults than when he arrived. You're better off investing time and money yourself to resolve faults. And let's face it, the state of their properties, you're going to incur a lot of maintenance issues. - Tried to scam us at the end of our tenancy charging for things and for faults that did not exist. Luckily, I had the good sense to take pictures before we moved out that proved them wrong. With this being said, it still took Rooftop 6 months to repay our deposits in full. I've had the pleasure of renting from a number of fantastic companies during my time living in Leeds - Rooftop was not one of them, this is the sort of letting agency that give student living a bad reputation. Would give 0 stars if I could.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS! ONLY CARE ABOUT MONEY! !!!!not worth the stress or hassle!!!! They refused to help me after I was domestically abused by another tenant in one of their properties. Not only did they not help or care, but then insisted that I still pay rent even after being threatened that I must move out by the other tenant. They have continued to house the other tenant whilst a police investigation is undergoing and the case is being taken to the CPS, and whilst I have had to seek refuge at my universities accommodation. They are aware this is a police matter, they have received a supporting statement from my university and have seen the video evidence, they are aware that the tenant has been suspended from university due to the case, yet they continue to offer the abuser the house I am currently still having to pay for. Staff members are rude and clueless, they don't treat students with any respect. They have no moral compass, or any human emotion. ONLY care about rinsing money off students and scamming people. Worst student letting agency in Leeds!!!!
Terrible company. Please do not rent there. I would not recommend at all. I rented a flat when I was in Leeds as a student and the experience was really bad. The place I was living in had woodlices, which I had to take care of myself because they didn’t do anything. When you raise issues they ignore it, and then try to take advantage of it.They threatened to keep my deposit unfairly. They try to take money from students - because they think you don’t know. There is no communication, they’re rude, and it’s all about the profit they can get. Plus they fake their Google reviews. I sincerely regret not checking the reviews before renting. Trust me there are much better places to rent from in Leeds for students. DO NOT RENT THERE.
TL, DR: Do NOT DEAL WITH THEM I have lived in three different countries, 5 different cities, and have dealt with several landlords, and these guy are the worst I have witnessed my entire life. I do not want to make it a long post, so just in short, they asked me for an extra 600 pounds for a short 3 month stay after the contract was signed, which clearly I did not give them, harassed me and my partner for three months with their call and their lies I have the records of their emails and WhatsApp messages, never gave out my deposit of 300 pounds and falsely claimed I have destroyed a TV. Luckily I had recorded videos of everything before moving out and once I showed them, they never got back to me. EDIT after their response, in case any body might fall for their lies: Funny you need to look polite here Amjad, I have emailed you thousands of times since last year. You are not even worth waisting my time on, to prosecute you for your lies, and you are well aware of that. Enjoy the small amounts you steal here and there. Better keep some for buying reviews
Very poor service given throughout my tenancy. They were very unreliable with the gardening they said they would upkeep and were never good at communicating with us. Didn't respond to any of our communications to get back our deposit. Would strongly advise any student to not go with Rooftop.
Sam was able to answer any questions we had and made us feel very comfortable. He allowed extra time for us to wait for our friend when she was stuck in traffic and running late. Didn't pressure us to sign and when we did, the online signup process was really easy to do. Can't speak highly enough of him and Rooftop Living
TLDR: DO NOT RENT WITH ROOFTOP All they care about is taking your money. After having to leave the house we rented with another tenant due to an abusive and violent housemate, rooftop refused to help us in any way, even after being shown pictures of damages caused by said tenant. After this was made into a police case, rooftop were more concerned with receiving rent than the wellbeing of me and my other housemate who had been the victim of domestic abuse in the rented property. They have no concern in resolving the situation and I promise you that they only see you as big bags of money. Having gone in to talk to the rooftop living team we were told there is nothing we could do. My housemate has called them many times and they have offered no solution, saying that if the abusive tenant does not want to leave there is nothing they can do. Even after being shown proof of the damages caused all they said they'd do is take it out of his deposit. The house in mention is located on St Annes road, as redbrick seem to have a tendency to accuse negative reviews as being fake and clearly making fake positive reviews. I can assure you everything mentioned here is exactly as it happened, even holding back on how appalling rooftop have been for the sake of objectivity.
Get everything in writing because these people are the most dishonest creatures on earth. After almost a year, they have not given us our deposit back. They claimed that we damaged their property with fake pictures, but we took videos of the day that we left and everything was working. If it is possible, do not make business with them. Do not let them fool you with the fake positive reviews. EDIT: now they are trying to silence me saying that my account is fake. I am sure Amjad, the person calling to intimidate, knows who I am.
Very honest and transparent company to deal with. I had multiple landlords/agents over my 3+ years in Leeds but Rooftop Living are by far my preferred choice and recommendation to any student.
As an International Student I was very nervous when it came to the whole process of looking for a new property in Leeds. The team at Rooftop Living made it very easy for me and my friends. They made us feel very settled. We can't be more happy and I will tell all my friends to choose them when they are looking for a new house.
